@DF_UniatePapist The universal jurisdiction of the Roman Pontif has limits: a) it concerns matters of Faith and Moral b) it cannot contradict established doctrine c) He has to speak as the Roman Pontif, not as a private doctor d) he cannot contraddict divine revelation.

There are plenty of traditional leaning Catholics, laity and even priests, who are affiliated with the FSSP, ICKSP, etc. and have struggles, doubts, and even open criticisms of Vatican II. Rome isn't actually stupid. They know this, and to one degree or another have been willing to provide for the pastoral care of such people. (Taylor Marshall remains a Catholic in good standing!) The thing that makes the SSPX different, the thing that actually will make them schismatic, is that unlike these other groups, they are taking the apostolic succession into their own hands, against the manifest will of the Successor of the Prince of the Apostles. If that isn't schismatic, what would be?
