Looks like the SSPX will be the only option for a traditional Holy Week in the Carolinas.

@rtf_media Great article. And even if this wasn't the case, families frequently drive an hour (or more) to find a traditional Mass. Can't these curmudgeons see that these parents are burdened enough as it is?

So....we can ask the pope to uncanonize someone? Is this a road we really want to go down?
Rich Raho@RichRaho

First-hand account of @gareth_gore’s meeting with Pope. Gareth outlines what he told Leo, including “how the group had used its power and its wealth to cover up the truth and suppress the voices of its many victims.” Gareth urged Leo to re-open canonization of Josemaría Escrivá due to “irregularities” in the process and presented Leo with “documents proving how Opus Dei’s system of grooming, abuse and control had been personally designed by this supposed ‘saint.’”

@CullumSmith What is meant by “morally impossible to approach a Catholic minister”?

Something to ponder as we consider the SSPX question: According to the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity, Catholics are encouraged to participate in non-Catholic worship: "In liturgical celebrations taking place in other ecclesial Communities, Catholics are encouraged to take part in the psalms, responses, hymns and common actions of the Church in which they are guests. If invited by their hosts, they may read a lesson or preach." (Directory for the Application of Principles and Norms on Ecumenism, §118) Also, we can lawfully approach the (unquestionably schismatic) Eastern Orthodox for Confession and Communion whenever it is "morally impossible" to approach a Catholic priest: "Whenever necessity requires or a genuine spiritual advantage suggests, and provided that the danger of error or indifferentism is avoided, it is lawful for any Catholic for whom it is physically or morally impossible to approach a Catholic minister, to receive the sacraments of penance, Eucharist and anointing of the sick from a minister of an Eastern Church." (Directory, §123) Surely the SSPX are no more schismatic than the Orthodox? But what if the SSPX doesn't fulfill your Sunday obligation? Simple — just pray a Rosary at your local NO Vigil Mass, then head to Sung Mass at the SSPX on Sunday morning to worship with their "ecclesial community." After all, "the Churches and ecclesial Communities not in full communion with the Catholic Church have by no means been deprived of significance and value in the mystery of salvation, for the Spirit of Christ has not refrained from using them as means of salvation." (Directory, §104)
