It's a banal fact that many, many good movies have been adapted from weak novels and few good movies have been adapted from good novels.

Trying to think of books where the film adaptation is considered vastly superior in quality. An odd one would probably be The Bridges of Madison County which consistently is picked as one of Clint's best directed films but the novel is usually considered mediocre at best

@magdalenepop i think it really comes down to whether or not you’re “reading” the words in your head, doesn’t it? if you just recognize the words as you go and skip over “the’s” and “and’s” and filler words that exist for grammatical structure, you absolutely can read a “long” book in 3 hours.

i think everyone is overestimating how long it takes to read a book. some books do be long but your average book takes like 3-5 hours in total.
