You're absolutely right, and I own that. I was raised to believe in this country, to respect authority, and to trust that those we elect genuinely have our best interests at heart. That belief system was deeply ingrained in me. So yes, when they said it was the right thing to do, that underlying trust kicked in and I complied. What's painful is realizing that the very belief system that taught me to value freedom was the same one that made me vulnerable to surrendering it. That's a hard truth to sit with.

It should be required for girls to take classes on cooking, household management, pregnancy, childbirth, child development, and childcare that would prepare them to be housewives, because many women realize that they want to become a housewife as adult who didn’t consider it when they were children. We don’t let children decide whether or not they want to learn math, we just make it mandatory because we know there are a lot of jobs and other situations they may encounter in the future where it’s important to understand math. Being a housewife is the most common “job” for women in America, so we should just automatically include those relevant classes as mandatory for girls.
