Unpopular opinion : La réinitialisation de Di María sur Puyol est plus hard que celle de Messi sur Boateng

I rate Henry Seriake Dickson’s foresight and ingenuity in creating the NDC platform at the time. He probably knew the ADC coalition wouldn’t stay united after the (presumed) emergence of its presidential candidate. He’d be the biggest beneficiary of the 2027 polls as he received heavyweights into the party’s fold. He has rightfully earned the tag- NDC National Leader.

Demola has been crashing out all day and calling Obi names like "snake". I dont even remember him doing this in 2023. Fascinating.

APC is reacting to the use of “Operation Wetie” by Seyi Makinde because deep down they know they are pushing Nigerians towards just that and they hate that Seyi Makinde is pointing it out. I will explain. “Operation Wetie” was a dark chapter in Nigeria’s history, particularly in Ibadan and the old Western Region in the 1960s. The phrase comes from Yoruba, “wẹ̀ tí e”, meaning “pour petrol on it.” And that’s exactly what happened. During a bitter political crisis involving the Action Group, factions loyal to Obafemi Awolowo and Samuel Ladoke Akintola clashed after disputed elections. What followed was mayhem: Homes burned Political opponents attacked Law and order broke down Violence became a political tool It got so bad that it helped trigger the 1966 Nigerian military coup, and Nigeria’s long detour into military rule. So why would Seyi reference “Operation Wetie” at the opposition summit? He is simply trying to remind the APC of what happens when: 1. People lose faith in electoral integrity 2. Political actors push systems to the breaking point 3. Institutions meant to be neutral are seen as compromised. History shows that when citizens begin to believe that outcomes are predetermined, tensions rise, and bad actors can exploit that environment. Have you listened to how apc people brag online? They tell you the result has already been written. They ask you if you couldn't stop Bola when he wasn't president, how would you stop him now that he is president. They tell you that Bola is no Jonathan. There are growing concerns in some quarters about the independence of key institutions, including Independent National Electoral Commission. Allegations and rumors, like those surrounding the appointment of Amupitan, are too serious to be ignored. Yet Amupitan hasn't resigned. Institutions should be accountable to the people but INEC is not yielding and Bola is yet to way a word about it; reinforcing the belief that he intends to snatch it, grab it and run with it. Seyi is invoking “Operation Wetie” as a reminder of how quickly things can spiral when trust in the system collapses and Nigeria cannot afford a repeat of that era. If anything, this moment calls for transparency from leadership and vigilance from citizens. Bola still has a lot of time to do the right thing. He has 30 governors, he is incumbent so he can showcase why he should be reelected, then he should give the people a free and fair election then let the best man win. Othwrwise, history shows it’s very hard to control what comes next.

After all said and done the best ticket to unseat Tinubu is Atiku/Obi, but with Obi exploring other things then Atiku too can explore other things , this brings Makinde into the equation. Can Makinde bring votes ? The reality is his strength is just Oyo but because a Yoruba man is president it will be difficult for him to thrive , the Yorubas cannot trade presidency for VP. Another angle is finance , yes as sitting Governor he can bring good financing but we must learn from history, Okowa brought financing but could not even win the state he Governs for us. Makinde choice may also trigger a negative domino effect in SE and SS that the ADC is poised to take. I think there must be rethink .

APC's prayer is anybody but Obi. I wonder why.

What’s the best ‘almost goal you’ve ever seen?

Atiku is a formidable force in this coalition. Obi is equally a formidable force. Each camp commands enough influence to tilt the outcome of the election, either in favour of the opposition or against it. If Obi leads the ticket, Atiku must have a decisive say in the vice-presidential nomination. If Atiku leads, Obi must equally play a central role in determining the VP. Neither camp can be sidelined without jeopardizing the coalition’s chances of victory. This reality also extends to key stakeholders like Aregbesola, Amaechi, the CPC/Buhari bloc, and others, whose interests must be deliberately accommodated and managed. Defeating a sitting, battle-tested incumbent is no small task. It requires careful balance, strategic concessions, and a truly unified front. It's a new day!
