@Geo_papic @JacobShap Unicredit already has quite a German influence through its merger with HVB in 2005. Many have thought more consolidation of banks in Europe, particularly Germany, has been needed for a long time. Not really seeing the geopolitical significance?

@kayakaynak97 @TifoFootball_ Thank you all! Really enjoyed it. Was a daily ritual after watching games/highlights (when there were too many games to watch). Will be a regular listener when the season starts up again.

Spare a thought for people who have seats at the 3rd/4th place playoff at the other end and have seen none of the 7 goals so far in front of them

Feel bad for Rice and Saka if it happens, but if England lose this it would be objectively hilarious

Only 1 player from the English champions made an appearance in England’s SF loss. When he left the field in the 83rd min, England were winning. All 4 featured in the previous 2 knockout game victories. There’s a lesson there. 😉

@JamesB_afc Genuine question: why are you a huge Tuchel fan? Is it just because he got England to the semi final? I think many managers could’ve managed the same with this squad. Granted the win in Mexico was epic, but as per his own words, that was “pure mentality”

I’m a huge Tuchel fan, and I think England got here in large part down to his brilliant management (not to overlook Bellingham etc) But I can’t believe he did everything I’d have gone nuts at Southgate for. The substitutions were atrocious. He left the players with dead legs in midfield and no outlet whatsoever

Scaloni beat Tuchel there. It seems crazy to say because he is a World Cup winning manager, but Scaloni is seriously underrated

Soccer is the most European of sports because while the athletes are real and there is actual activity, the final outcomes are determined by procedural manipulation of random bureaucrats

@henrycooke Not aware of a book, but there is probably some useful stuff in the non technical intros of various academic papers and theses. The national grid is actually a giant network optimisation problem. So even if it’s not run as a market, you end up with “prices” as though it were

@fifamedia I think you need a sensor in the wire. Sensors on the field. Sensors in the players. A sensor on Infantino’s head. There is no problem that you cannot solve with more sensors! Nothing is real unless it’s on the sensor! SENSOOOOR!!!

Before England’s goal in minute 45+2 against Norway, the sensor in the Connected Ball showed no peak in the 'heartbeat of the ball' when in the air, and therefore no evidence that the ball touched the overhead wire and changed the movement of the ball.
