Vijay missed an opportunity to thank the voters. More importantly, he missed the chance to deliver a gracious victory speech. It has been three days since the counting, and we now have a situation where the potential Chief Minister has pressed the mute button. Even one appeal to the public to support good governance would have put pressure on parties to make way for TVK. A conciliatory signal to the Centre and warm wishes to the other parties could have cleared the path for his ascendance. Contrast this with M. K. Stalin. He put out a well-drafted tweet and went around thanking voters in a seat he lost. Through small gestures, he regained some lost goodwill. Vijay has been blessed with a great deal of good fortune and many golden opportunities. He must make use of them without appearing entitled.

One thing is becoming increasingly clear. TVK’s biggest political blunder was bringing the Congress into its alliance first. That move appears to have triggered the BJP’s aggressive response with the Gov now seemingly being used to delay the swearing-in process

Today’s toolkit: Why can’t DMK let VCK & Left support Vijay? Why can’t Opposition unite behind Vijay to stop BJP? It's a shame that DMK+ is not supporting Vijay. But not a single question to Vijay, ask him to speak, take a stand for himself. Then question everyone else!

So if the DMK asks the Communists and the VCK to support the TVK as is now being speculated, won't Vijay be at the mercy of the DMK? Is this the Government he wants to form? Does it not trouble him that these parties are taking permission from Stalin to offer support to him?
