@KwesiHubert Interesting. For 6M and Exobank has paid over 140M already. That kind of return after 10 years is massive. This man and his generation can never be poor. Lessons learned

The Supreme Court just released its full judgment in the Daniel Ofori v. Ecobank case and after reading it, I can confidently say that a lot of the social media commentary around it is completely inaccurate.
People are claiming Ecobank has been ordered to pay “$7 billion”, “$10 billion” and is about to collapse.
That is simply false.
Here is what actually happened:
Back in 2008, Daniel Ofori invested Ghc6,162,240 with Ecobank (fixed deposit) at an agreed interest rate of 30%.
Ecobank’s biggest mistake was this:
The agreement did not clearly state whether the interest was to be compounded monthly or annually. Even worse, there was no agreed maturity or termination date for the investment.
Shortly after the investment, a dispute arose and Ofori sued Ecobank.
This litigation has now dragged on for almost 18 years.
The High Court dismissed Ofori’s case.
The Court of Appeal also dismissed it.
But in 2018, the Supreme Court reversed both courts and entered judgment in his favour.
Now here is the part many people are misunderstanding:
The 2026 Supreme Court ruling currently circulating online was NOT a fresh judgment awarding him billions of dollars.
No.
The only issue before the Supreme Court in 2026 was this:
Should the 30% interest be compounded monthly or annually?
That single issue matters a lot because compound interest is extremely powerful.
For example:
If you invest Ghc1 million at 30% compounded monthly over many years, the money can grow massively because each month’s interest starts earning additional interest.
That is why the numbers in this case became so huge over time.
Ecobank argued that the interest should be compounded annually.
But Daniel Ofori argued that Ecobank itself publicly represented to customers that it calculates investment returns monthly through its own investment calculators and banking practices.
The Supreme Court agreed with Ofori.
The court basically said:
“You cannot publicly tell customers one thing and then argue the opposite in court.”
So the Court ordered:
I. 30% compound interest calculated monthly from June 2008 to July 2018.
II. Then 13.34% simple post-judgment interest until final payment.
That is the actual ruling.
Now here is another important point:
The Supreme Court itself NEVER stated any billion-dollar figure in the judgment.
In fact, according to the court record, Ecobank had already paid over Ghc141 million before this latest ruling was delivered.
Even aggressive independent calculations still do not come anywhere near the fantasy “multi-billion dollar” figures circulating online.
And finally, this is Ecobank Ghana, part of the Ecobank Group operating across more than 30 African countries. People are talking as if one commercial dispute automatically means the entire bank will collapse tomorrow morning.
This is a long-running commercial litigation and interest-computation dispute.
Not an instant bankruptcy judgment against Ecobank.

@ProsperByk @alukyi It's simple. He does affiliate marketing for the bookis including Roobet. He earns commissions and can use that to bet always and he would win some, withdraw some and keep going and going. Only that he is not content and if care is not taken his whole system would crash hard.
English

Let me ask you a question @alukyi
From last month till now, you’ve been spending at least $5k on betting during live streams every day, and you still keep playing even after losing since last month
So I want to ask, where do you get the money from that keeps you going?
By my calculations, you’ve lost about $245,000, which is around 2.8 million cedis for last month alone and that calculation is only based on live streams…Offline betting sessions are not even included
I think a lot of people want to ask this question as well
Please explain it to people because they keep asking me this question

@ArjHatesCash It’s a tough road. Start by banning all your accounts. Tell yourself you can never make it with gambling in this life. The chance of that happening for you is 1 in 10 million, now is that a favorable odd? Quit now.

@ItsNotLorii You’ve not tried Aviator. That is worst than football betting. What you lose in a year you can lose in an hour
English

@chefabbys That's true but the major reason is that, companies are not spending any money in targeting the region. We don't have enough companies willing to spend heavily that's why earnings are low and limited.
English

@_mioamour yeah it's worth the risk. Elon Musk did a similar thing in his early years as an entrepreneur and used the space to throw parties and made good cash.
English

@alukyi You always get re-fuel money when you lose but he doesn’t have that. It starts small, he prolly lost 20k, you win some and lose all and the cycle continues over and over and over till you are depleted and have no source of cash coming in. Then the debts starts piling up…
English

“Sometime he just dey try win something then return back the stolen money. BIGGEST MISTAKE gamblers always make”. See how atalk this nicely like say aget sense pass am and wouldn’t even do the same😭.

@alukyi Good decision but the break won't solve it if you don't have measures in place to control your stakes. Set Limits, use self exclusion when you win Big to take a break and find other alternative investment options so you don't end up chasing the bookies always.

Hello guys, my mental health is at stake due to degenerate gambling. The adrenaline from winning and losing in a short period of time is overwhelming and as a result I’ll be taking a one week break off social media. Within this period my accounts would be handled by someone else including streams and social media posts. Thank you.

@alukyi @SportyBet @hubtel It is a strategy they know you are an addict so if the money stays longer you will lose it so if it happens just self exclude say for 3 days as you can withdraw even in self exclusion. That will give you time to cool and not make hasty bets.
English

Yesterday I lost GHS 250,000 because @SportyBet claimed there was a network issue with @hubtel and kept refunding my withdrawals until i lost it all.
Today too same issue, allowing deposit, but preventing withdrawals. Is anyone else experiencing this?
