It could be over a week before the cut in excise duty is reflected in the price people pay at the pump, an energy expert has warned.

The Government's new housing czar has said he hopes his office can contribute to the delivery of tens of thousands of homes by 2030

If there was an election due, they wouldn't dare insult people like this.
The #FFG Government thinks so little of the public, that they send of the former Housing Minister Darragh O’Brien, who lied about housing delivery during the election to defend their stingy emergency measures package announced today.

@FitzellMarcus@ThomasByrneTD This is on the top of mercosur and NZ trade deal, Europe can produce beef instead of getting it from the other side of the world
@ofrie26@ThomasByrneTD Tiny amounts of beef. EU beef production in 2024 was 6.6 million tonnes. This EU/Oz deal calls for 30,000 tonnes over a 10 year period. Plus, over half that MUST be grass fed.
The EU and Australia have agreed a free trade deal! 🇪🇺🇮🇪🤝🇦🇺
As a result of this deal, EU exports are expected to grow by up to 33% over the next decade!
This is great news for jobs, investment and economic growth in Ireland and the European Union!

ENORMOUS DISRUPTION lies ahead
Irish Govt is currently debating between a 15c or 25c reduction on excise fuel tax.
This feels a lot like like picking up pennies in front of a steam roller. Their entire budget could go up in the air. Let me explain:
During Covid:
• Oil demand fell by ~20million barrels/day
• Gas demand dipped only slightly by 3%
Today:
• Oil supply at risk of ~20million barrels/day
• LNG disruption ~20%
This means flights and diesel will get so expensive that demand is forced down mimicking COVID-era restrictions but without the mandatory lockdowns.
The true shock won't hit for another few weeks as reserves are released and last remaining supply ships reach their ports.
Maybe something will happen to prove this wrong...
but right now its very difficult to see how.
