🆕 Anna “Supergirl” Jaroonsak has retired from fighting at just 22 years old. After her loss to Yu Yau Pui at ONE Fight Night 41, the Thai star opened up about the truth behind her career – a story she says she had never told publicly before. Supergirl revealed she actually wanted to quit fighting eight years ago. At the time, her parents were separating. As a child, she believed continuing to fight might keep her family together. “I was a kid and I wanted them to stay together,” she told the Bangkok Post. “That’s why I fought until now.” She went on to debut in ONE Championship at just 16 years old in 2020, quickly becoming one of the promotion’s brightest young Muay Thai prospects alongside her sister Nat “Wondergirl” Jaroonsak. But behind the scenes, the emotional cost slowly built up. “In the last two or three years I had panic attacks… I could not sleep and have had bad depression,” she said. Support from her boyfriend, Thai MMA fighter Peter Danesoe, helped her begin to rethink her future. “He told me I could still work hard and help people, help animals,” she said. Supergirl says she has realised she doesn’t need the fame or money that once came with fighting. “I have food, I have a house, I have a car. That’s enough for me,” she said. After years of carrying the expectations of others, she says the decision has finally brought her peace. “I don’t hate Muay Thai,” she said. “I love Muay Thai in my life. Mayor Joy would be an amazing candidate for Senate. She is a genuine progressive and has beaten the odds. In 2022, she defeated the BBM-Sara candidate. And of course, her historic 2025 win, the first-ever mayor to surpass 1 million votes. Definitely in the winning circle! I believe we will support her en masse too, even the moderates!
