#30DayMapChallenge | Day 28 The blue planet | Land of Lakes & Rivers Ok this title may stir the pot with our neighbors in MN...they likely win most lakes, but here are some of our most notable waterbodies here in WI! Still working on this—any other superlative submissions? 💦

Spent most of my recent time refining the hierarchy of bike routes, using line styling to denote relative comfort level. Definitely welcome any feedback/ideas from the #madison bike community! I'll continue refining this at city and county scale for print.

#30DayMapChallenge | Day 30 The Final Map | Bike Map of Madison 🚲 Been working on this map all year + still have a lot on my list to tweak, but closing out this year's series mapping Madison's great biking infrastructure. In collaboration w/ @UWMadisonGeog alum Ben Cramer.

#30DayMapChallenge | Day 29 Data: Overture | Churches & Bars Extracted place data from @OvertureMaps and filtered to primary category contains “church” or equals “bar.” Pink areas indicate a higher prevalence of both place types.

#30DayMapChallenge | Day 27 Micromapping | Tileset About as hyper-local a “map” I’ve ever made. A little axonometric diagram I made for myself to arrange tile pattern and calculate coverage for a bath renovation. First time tiling myself—extremely slow but very satisfying!

#30DayMapChallenge | Day 26 Map projections | Homegrown Projection Did you know we have a well-known projection made right here in Madison? Developed by Arthur H. Robinson at @UWMadisonGeog in 1963, it attempts to minimize distortion of area and shape over most of the map.

#30DayMapChallenge | Day 25 Heat | Heat Sources Plurality map of the dominant home heating fuel source across counties in the midwest. We just switched our gas boiler 🔥 to a heat pump ⚡️

#30DayMapChallenge | Day 23 Memory | The McBride Sisters See the World A few months ago my mother-in-law Ann passed away after a battle with Alzheimer’s. This map is dedicated to the trips that took her + sister Mary Lou from a small town in rural Wisconsin all across the globe.

#30DayMapChallenge | Day 22 2 Colors | Road America When I first moved to WI, I noticed B&W license plates that had a strange, amorphous shape on them—turns out that it represented track at @roadamerica, America's Nat'l Park of Speed! Here's a B&W map stylization of the course🏁

#30DayMapChallenge | Day 21 Conflict | #WarOnCars Crashes involving a pedestrian or cyclist reported '17-22, as cataloged by @UWBadgers TOPS Lab. White to red represents injury severity. The firefly glow effect highlights intersections with more incident frequency.

#30DayMapChallenge Day 19: Typography - Hashima Island 🏣 I love Japanese kanji and for the typography day I wanted to create smth in a post stamp. Hashima Island - abandoned island in Japan - is a perfect spot for this purposes and also for romanticizing abandoned places

#30DayMapChallenge | Day 20 Data: OSM | Library Branches Edited OSM to make the data for @madisonpubliclibrary branches in @openstreetmapus more consistent in name, operator, + opening hours. Not an elaborate visual, but did learn about HTML/CSS properties in @qgis labels!
