@Mikeggibbs Here's the problem.
If you look at Taxiway D on the LaGuardia plate, it is oblique to runway 4/22 - the plane was effectively behind the fire truck and in it's blind spot.
There are other safety systems - not sure if they were functioning.
English

What I don't understand: why didn't the fire truck stop? The Air Canada jet was VERY visible with its front landing gear lights on.
Do they not look before they cross runways?! They just blindly follow instructions?

Profoundly embarrassing Tom...

Tom Mulcair on Pierre Poilievre's Joe Rogan appearance: "I thought it was an outstanding piece of political communication, and it was bookended by ... frankly one of the best political speeches I've heard any Canadian political leader give on Canada-US relations in a long time."
English

@duncankinney Let's be honest - Ottawa extracts far too much tax from far too many Canadians!
If Alberta were to leave Canada, the amount Albertans would send to the Rest of Canada is zero!
a bloodsucking leech in Alberta gets less from Ottawa than bloodsucking leech anywhere else Canada!
English

@cochise251 @cb_doge Put the compute in space and send the results back.
English

ELON MUSK: "Space solar actually costs less than terrestrial solar because you don't need heavy glass or framing to protect it from extreme weather events. So as soon as the cost to orbit drops to a low number, it immediately makes extremely compelling sense to put AI in space.
It becomes a no brainer. Basically, more of a as you go to space, you get increased economies of scale, and things get easier over time, whereas as you try to put more and more power on the ground, you run out of space and you start using up the easy spots, and then you get next level. Nobody wants the thing in their backyard.
So then increasing power on earth has becomes harder over time and more expensive over time, but in space it becomes actually cheaper and easier over time."

@Juxtap0zed_ @krassenstein @MarkJCarney @JustinTrudeau S.121 of the CDN constitution requires any good of produce or manufacture of any province in the union to be freely admitted to all other provinces in the union.
Considering equalization, Canada has been well compensated for any risk!
I'll be blunt - no pipeline no Canada!
English

@ohnilsson @krassenstein @MarkJCarney @JustinTrudeau Northern gateway is never going to happen because it's not Alberta taking any of the risk, and it's a risky waterway. US canceled keystone. Energy east only would have served 2 million more than Enbridge mainline.
Y'all have this fantasy of being oilionnaires. It's fantasy.
English

@Juxtap0zed_ @krassenstein @MarkJCarney @JustinTrudeau Global oil production is roughly 80mbbl/d.
Canada produces 5mbbl/d but if Northern Gateway, Energy East, and KeystoneXL had been built, we would be producing just over 10mbbl/d and possibly crack the top 3 producers in the world.
The production alone would provide relief!
English

@ohnilsson @krassenstein @MarkJCarney @JustinTrudeau #restoftheworld here.
It's not profitable to constantly maintain extra production 100% of the time just in case maybe there's a war someday. And if you think oil corps are going to sell to you at a discount just because you live where the oil is from, you're an idiot.
English

@wendywh30338921 @ABDanielleSmith is the elected premier of Alberta. Collectively, candidates from, @Alberta_UCP garnered more votes than all other provincial candidates combined.
Unless you are an Albertan, it's none of your business and your colonizing attitudes are why AB must leave Canada!
English

This cannot be allowed! This woman is a "walking time bomb" and AB may be ok with her insanity, but the rest of Canada is not! She is a security risk, plain and simple!

@Johnny_Speed @prairiecentrist @Alberta_UCP @ABDanielleSmith Where has she reduced funding for mental health and addictions? The @Alberta_UCP has vastly increased treatment and recovery beds and thus grown financing for mental health.
Show me where she has cut funding.
As far as disability benefits, AISH is in dire need of reform!
English

@ohnilsson @prairiecentrist @Alberta_UCP @ABDanielleSmith My point was more about her pretending to care about life when she reduces funding for all kinds of mental health care and ability for disabled people to afford to live. She is obviously okay with driving people to suicide.
English

In what fucking universe is she in a position to determine it's "too many?"
I'm getting angry about this.
Sean Amato@JSJamato
Alberta’s premier says too many Canadians are accessing medical assistance in dying, so she’s bringing in new provincial restrictions. As Sean Amato reports, Danielle Smith is also willing to invoke the notwithstanding clause to protect the bill. #ableg edmonton.citynews.ca/video/2026/03/…

@Johnny_Speed @prairiecentrist @Alberta_UCP @ABDanielleSmith MAID remains available so long as death is reasonably forecast within a year and the patient is capable of giving informed consent.
Killing someone without informed consent is murder!
English

@ohnilsson @prairiecentrist @Alberta_UCP @ABDanielleSmith Yes, she wants them to kill themselves on their dime. Especially those she doesn’t like and makes their lives miserable.
Same with old people who can’t afford to live. Starving or freezing to death is more economical.
English

@Polichromos @prairiecentrist @Alberta_UCP @ABDanielleSmith The Fed. Government made changes to the MAID law after she was elected even though HEALTH CARE IS IN THE EXCLUSIVE JURISDICTION OF THE PROVINCE!
Children cannot give informed consent and she is within the guidelines in other provinces.
You don't like it, election's next year!
English

@ohnilsson @prairiecentrist @Alberta_UCP @ABDanielleSmith Did she run with this explicitly being stated as part of her platform? Taking the choice away from dying people?
English

@theparthrastogi Careful - in Canada, there are superficial loss rules to prevent that.

@ohnilsson @Mikeggibbs Holy Geez, he got an Order of Canada???
💀💀💀👹👹👹
English

I am very happy to see the public reaction to this demand from the Conservative Party is overwhelmingly negative.
Guess what's the strongest argument people advocating for this use?
There are worse recipients than Don Cherry.
If that's our criteria for the Order of Canada we should fold it up.
Don Cherry must never be appointed because he traffics in violence and hate. Arguably Don Cherry is the biggest reason why toxic violent hockey parents are a thing.
Had Cherry ever expressed sincere remorse and made amends for any of his harmful, serious lapses when he had the most watched stage in Canada, perhaps he would be worthy.
But he never did.
Instead he doubled down into self-pity.
He reflects everything Canadians ought not to be, our worst, darkest compulsions.
Don Cherry will forever be a shameful figure in our history.
The Conservatives need to listen to Canadians and drop this.

@fette_a The Province has a constitutional obligation for education. If the province wishes to maintain a curriculum across the province, it has obligation to pay for it to be taught!
Public-Charter-Private - if it's Alberta's curriculum, Alberta gets to pay to have it taught!
English

I believe Alberta is the only province who uses public funds for private schools.
Education is a right. Private is a privilege. Smith funnels more money to the wealthy than to benefit all Albertans.
I’m betting MLAs with children will get free tuition for this.
Alli Girl 💁🏼♀️@AlliAlliG
@miket136 Maybe if we stopped funding private schools the public system could be properly funded to support all students.
English

@PhilSmith26 @MarcLevesqueEco The Provincial objections have been dispensed with - see [2020 SCC 1] and there are plenty of first Nations ready to invest in a pipeline to the BC Coast.
Your arguments are stale, old fashioned and not relevant in a modern country.
