Whenever regulatory agencies and law enforcement bodies in Nigeria identify and nab counterfeiters, whether of foods and beverages or designer brands, phones, electronics or pharmaceuticals, we should not just send them to jail and throw away the keys.
Instead, we should have an agency to legitimise these people. If you can counterfeit the real thing, you can definitely create your own indigenous technology. These guys are not destructive criminals that engage in drug peddling, romance scams and yahoo. They are creative geniuses that reverse engineer a product and replicate it.
The Russians did that to the Americans and the Americans returned the favour. Copying technology is sometimes a necessary crime.
Teach them how to get patents and register a company. Help them get financing. Create an enabling environment, and then they will start creating authentic local alternatives to foreign technologies.
That is how Japan and China started and grew their military-industrial complex to where they are today, such that they now compete with the West.
And to those Nigerians that laugh at Ndi'Igbo, I urge you to take in the larger picture. You cannot even produce ordinary toothpicks, and you are mocking Igbo-made? Look, the technological salvation of Nigeria may come from Aba made!
If we keep sending brilliant minds that can make counterfeits in Aba that are almost as good as what is made in Germany, to Kirikiri, we will forever be a consumer nation. We need to transform into a prosumer economy. One that consumes what they produce. And if we get there by using former counterfeiters, it does not matter. In self-reliance, the end justifies the means.

Nigerian government should execute policies to make our system matured enough to accommodate import restriction of FMCGs. There are potentials to be made legit!

Dear Chikwem,
Thank you for your feedback. Who is the "imbecile" (to use your own words) in your analogy? Is it Waziri Atiku Abubakar, who got a Masters with Distinction in International Relations from Anglia Ruskin University, or Bola Tinubu, who earned a First Class in Accounting from Chicago State University, or Peter Obi, who got a Second Class lower in an easy course like Philosophy, from the University of Nigeria?
Thanks again, and may God bless you.

Peter Obi saved money, they said it was wrong. Oti is going to borrow, they said it not fine.
@MissPearls help me understand.

Peter Obi is not sufficiently detribalised to govern a multiethnic nation like Nigeria. He is too tribalistic. Look at him condemning the bombing of innocent Nigerians in Kaduna by the Nigerian Army. But a month ago, when Chinedu and Omama were burnt in Onitsha, his hometown, Peter Obi refused to condemn it the way he condemned the burning of Deborah Samuel in Sokoto on May 12, 2022. Last week, he condemned Lagos' demolition of illegal structures. But when Anambra demolished illegal structures, Peter Obi said nothing. If it happens outside Igboland, Peter Obi will shout loud and cry and dance naked. But if it occurs in the Southeast, Peter Obi pretends not to see it!

To those spreading the propaganda that the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, bowed to the APC Chairman, Umar Ganduje, please wear some glasses and look again. The photo is clear. They bowed to each other. This is because they both come from cultures that value respect. The CJN is an Omoluabi Yoruba, while the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress is a Fulani who understands the concept of Pulaaku.
Among the Yoruba and Fulani, two things are most respected. Age and authority. These are very high cultures, in which relationships are lubricated with courtesy, not money.
However, when you do not have a culture of respect, this photo might look strange to you, but do note that respect begets respect. The reason why some people are going through what they are going through in the Nigerian project may be because they have a culture severely lacking in respect.

@HaruonMubaarak @BashirAhmaad Checkmate! How many people use fuel? And how many use flight?
You just called Dangote to fulfil your bigotic sense.
English

@BashirAhmaad All of you insulting Bashir, let me ask you. Imagine Dangote say Nigeria does not need a refinery, will you people agree with him? You'll still trade this same insult.
