We officially launched the declaration exercise for all public officers yesterday. I had the privilege of presenting on the salient features of the Leadership Code Act and unpacking the importance of declarations of incomes, assets, and liabilities by public officers. These declarations are essential in strengthening transparency, accountability, and integrity in public service, and in building greater public trust.

I made remarks at the Anti-Corruption Seminar for Supreme Audit Institutions and Anti-Corruption Agencies in Sandton, Johannesburg. Held under the theme “Collaborative Governance: Leading the Fight Against Corruption in Africa for Improved Foreign Direct Investment (FDI),” the seminar highlighted the critical role of partnerships in strengthening accountability systems and fostering investor confidence across the continent. The fight against corruption requires collective action—bringing together institutions, governments, and stakeholders to build transparent, resilient systems that support sustainable development. Together, we can shape an Africa where integrity drives growth and opportunity for all.

We do not rise to be seen, we move beneath the sight of those who think they see everything.

This morning, I had the privilege of giving an elevator speech at the Forum on South-South Cooperation and Development in Renewable Energy. The urgency to develop low carbon technologies is much more needed now than ever. The efforts by the People's Republic of China to financially and technically support many developing countries on climate change cannot be underestimated. This year, more than 15 staff from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development and other government agencies participated in different training courses on low carbon technologies in Beijing and Qingdao. Chinese development finance institution(DFIs) are investing in clean electricity generation and grid systems which is helping to electricity industrial parks in uganda and build it's industrial capacity and productivity eventually spilling over to responsible and sustainable mining. Ugandas commitment to achieve 99% electricity by 2030 is being supported by various partnerships like the south - south cooperation. It's therefore our desire to strengthen this partnership and encourage more Chinese renewable energy companies to invest in Uganda and Africa at large. I also pitched to the audience Uganda's favourable frameworks and policies that will guarantee a good investment and business environment for all in the renewable energy sector. With China taking lead ,we all need to enroute to greening the world and reducing carbon emissions.
