Very cool paper on parental care and offspring chemical profiles!

Coeur d’Alene Salamanders are primarily found in close proximity to rocky streams and damp, fissured outcroppings in northern Idaho, NW Montana and SE British Columbia, west of the Rocky Mountains. I was able to find a few of these salamanders in such habitat on a recent trip.

I got interviewed by @ligaze for Forbes magazine! I'm very grateful for the opportunity to share my work, and especially for the emphasis on the importance of science by and for the Global South—a science born frm both the blessings and challenges of being from biodiverse regions

Back from my yearly pilgrimage to visit the largest salamanders in the Americas. There is no other feeling like watching a massive hellbender crawl along the bottom of the stream as the current causes its loose skin to flutter. Like being transported to a different time.

Very interesting paper recently out of the Feldman lab at UNR link.springer.com/article/10.100… -- showing that 2/3 species of garter snakes demonstrate faster elimination of TTX in resistant populations. Toxicokinetics can reveal a lot about how animals deal with toxins!
