What is happening? There is joy in looking at the majority of content on X. In recent past it has got more unpleasant; even vulgar. The opinions expressed by many are simply meant to stir hatred, discontent or misunderstanding. X is a time parasite that adds no value for me!

This is absolutely right from @DaleVince The trouble is that too many industrial buildings are not built with capacity for roof top #PV. Many have skylights that are not safe to walk on & some don’t even have reasonable roof access & maintenance infrastructure. Build better!

@brickmatch1 @mgshanks @JamesAsser I think Net Zero is a myth. An over simplification for the accountants. In reality we will reduce the GHG intensity (especially CO2) but perfection will remain a goal for my lifetime.

The public back action to tackle climate change - much more than we think. But a lot of misinformation and vested interests loudly shouts down the majority. But tackling climate change is also the economic opportunity of the century and how we maintain energy security.

We need many more curious & courageous Engineers that do the sums & fewer ranting obsessions.

A fresh perspective is required. By the time the Oil & Gas investors catch up the Chinese will have mastered the solution.

@IainAStewart2 @mgshanks @JamesAsser Given that he is Minister of State for Energy it seems that he has that portfolio. No doubt that supporting his constituents should come first but I think he has sufficient support & capacity to perform both roles.

@NelsAlmhere @LukeMLabour @mgshanks 🤭 If only nuclear was a cheap / low cost option! The reality is that we need to use low cost energy sources. Using wind & solar just means that we will need to incentivise dispatchable loads. We will still need nuclear, energy storage & fossil fuels but less of it all.

@oldbasingtweets @LukeMLabour @mgshanks Or... Build sufficient reliable, clean and cheap nuclear stations, rather relying on intermittent and outrageously expenaive wind or useless solar. (pointless in winter for the UK)

@tagware @g__j The business rates problem is easily solved by HM Govt legislation; it is a political choice. The DNO problem is generally less of an issue on new builds. Plus, I simply stated that the roofs should be ready for PV; retrofitting structural capacity & safe skylights is problem.

@oldbasingtweets @g__j The trouble is that they will increase the Business rates instantly. 🤔 The DNO normally has restrictions on local supply.😔

The astonishing determination of the fossil lobby is in the comments. Sure, solar doesn’t work when it’s dark (although storage is getting cheap) but when it’s light, surely anyone rational would rather get clean cheap power from solar than pay for shiploads of coal. And….

@g__j Meanwhile; Perhaps the Bankers prefer tankers; The Brokers will continue to joke about creating wealth; The Underwriters are motivated to resist change. While the big funds block progress we [the masses] will be force fed oil & gas. Community Energy Sharing Networks are needed

…reducing dependency on fossil fuel imports is better for energy security and reduces exposure to fossil price volatility.
