I am convinced a great service could be done for talented poor kids by setting up a charity called Sharp Elbows in which volunteers from the elite and pushy middle class share some of their more worldly experience with, say, super-smart 16 year olds from working class backgrounds when it comes to choosing a university course and understanding what to do when they get there.

Technical but very important: The government says it may have to rewrite NHS legislation, “modifying definitions of ‘treatment’ to include assisted dying.” Major consequences for doctors if AS becomes a “treatment”. Could they be obliged to mention it to eligible patients?
