I'm gonna need folks to start citing sources. If this is going to keep up, it's time to link out to actual articles and books that lay out the Kinky Sluts Only No Exceptions guide to feminism of the Obama Era. Time to prove it!
Muted. Argue with yourself.@___inCANdescent

Gen Z is kinda clocking millennial/Gen X feminists’ tea. Y’all said/say men are trash but then advocate for having casual sex with many of them and partaking in kinks that may be harmful. It never made sense.

@hyperl00n @_BigMadam_ older GenZ are all 20-30s. there is compassion but it’s hard to understand what needs to be clarified when the resources are at everyone’s fingertips, and when this whole topic started with someone blaming an entire generation for their personal choices, then the pile on.

and no the youngest Gen Z is 14 years old, i’m sorry but we are still kids and we just reached adulthood like we JUST reached 30! the oldest millennial is almost 45. you guys have a library of nuance and research that won’t be able to access until later. pls i’m begging yall to give us some compassion. your 20s, in a Millennial’s words, are terrible and filled with bad takes. so like

I think Gen Z trying to criticise everything millennials do because they have contributed nothing to the movement. Tried to go the traditional route and even that one has not worked out.

@JahCominUp @offbeatorbit So then you’re describing the mass marketing and repackaged consumerist version of an ideology. So again, media literacy is required, which I’m not sure you grasp what that entails. It is the receivers job to consider who wrote it and why so they can digest it accordingly.

@oldbcc @offbeatorbit No. I am referring specifically to a trend of faux intellectual hyper analysis. Cracked dot com type of millennial analysis into media without that deep of a textual meaning for fun pop culture reasons. In this era actual media literacy was commodified for entertainment purposes.

@hyperl00n @_BigMadam_ The library, online, book clubs, book lists, so many places. Tumblr shouldn’t be anyone’s main source for academia or philosophy. Start with Bell Hooks. And most importantly check your understanding by reading papers that analyze the text.

yes, me a Gen Zer i would like to know where do i begin that research? because i know for me it was radfems that were the ones on Tumblr making these sentiments that were right wing adjacent, they were immensely critical of the slut/hoe era stating we were feeding into the patriarchy anyway. i remember this well. so here am i seeking viable information to change

@JahCominUp @offbeatorbit Ppl suggest “no sex before marriage” & yet we all make our own choices. So, were questions asked for clarification? And to whom? Strangers online are not here to raise anyone’s children. unfortunate we share unflitered spaces, GenZ should work to change that since you know sm

@oldbcc @offbeatorbit I think adults should be mindful of how they present topics when making lifestyle suggestions. Im an adult now and I wouldn’t make a statement like “all men need to be patriarchs” or something stupid like that and then explain that I meant something more nuanced when questioned

@hyperl00n @_BigMadam_ Furthermore, I personally have reshared things that were willfully misunderstood. The information is out there. And I literally found this video in the same thread where people were misrepresenting her message. GenZ are not “kids” anymore. Also, did they ask or seek or blame?
Brahms The III@oldbcc

Running this back cuz the Millennial feminist message was always clear… it’s sad to see a young generation being as reductive and obtuse as Jessie.

@hyperl00n @_BigMadam_ Because we know why, at least in this particular example everyone is discussing this week. What is being said about the “hoe/slut” era is just right wing talking points. Also GenZ is old enough now to look again at the things they misinterpreted & research the ACTUAL message.

@JahCominUp @offbeatorbit No, I am informing you that what you think is hyper introspection is not. It was the beginning of very BASIC media literacy and analysis. The introspection done by millennials was in no way hyper and just the beginning of general awareness of what had just began in academia.

@DarkTriadChad @_BigMadam_ lol. It’s ok if you want to believe that but history shows that every new generation coming up finds the previous “cringe”…. I don’t think there is any generation that thinks / wants to appeal to younger gen’s cuz it’s expected & understood that what’s “cool” changes each gen.

@oldbcc @_BigMadam_ There is some of that, there's also a fair amount of bickering. Like I said, neither side is great. Gen z knows millennial women are desperate for their approval and is lording not giving it over them for all it's worth. Kinda sad, but it's hard to feel sorry for them.

@JahCominUp @offbeatorbit Actually there is plenty of conversation from Millennials about the need for dedicated online spaces for younger generations… How do we check the ages of our audiences before we share? Should we stop pushing feminism because some people don’t monitor or advise their girls?

@JahCominUp @offbeatorbit So should adults not share adult information with other adults in adult platforms because other people won’t guide or monitor their children? It’s all millennials women’s fault that minors misinterpreted messaging that was never intended for minors?

@oldbcc @offbeatorbit The specific genre of “the secret message you never noticed in X media property” was formed by millennials and young gen xers online. And of course buzzfeed isnt for minors. When has something being for minors Changed what they or society as a whole are influenced by?

@JahCominUp @offbeatorbit No, never said or implied that. I provided you an example to demonstrate how we ALL cannot be passive receivers of information, and how parental guidance is needed. @JahCominUp @offbeatorbit The issue you’re describing are comprehension & critical thinking. It’s why many push media literacy or as you called it “hyper introspection” because author & source matter. Researching the validity what you consume online matters and is the onus is on the receiver to dissect.

@JahCominUp @offbeatorbit When the man show came out when I was a child, it was clearly misogynistic so I personally did not engage…nor dis most women, nor would my parents allow. you can’t uphold that narrative universally amongst Gen Z, you’re actively ignoring important nuances of the conversation to be right about your point. if they don’t want to engage in it, why can’t we ask why? or are you tired of trying to find a solution? which is also fine! and valid!

@DarkTriadChad @_BigMadam_ Actually, there is no debate. It’s Millennials clarifying and correcting the wrong interpretations of those who were too young to even comprehend those adult spaces. It’s wanting to be “cool” to defend your point & correct the misunderstanding of a vital social movement?

@oldbcc @_BigMadam_ I guess there's a lot of not well adjusted millennials then because many of them are extremely concerned about what gen z thinks of them. This whole online intergenerational feminist debate itself shows how self conscious millennials are about not having gen z's approval.

@offbeatorbit This convo is so funny to me because in any other context the line would be that 14 year olds aren’t at all responsible for any of their sexual decisions but now that the blame may fall on millennial women specifically it’s all our fault and we were old enough to know better lmao

@JahCominUp @offbeatorbit Developing a kink because of content you consume at 14 is no one’s responsibility but your own and the people who supervise what you interact with as a minor. NOW it is up to her as an adult to work out her “kinks” etc. Her being raped is the rapist’s fault, and his alone.

it’s just funny because millennials did not create nor popularize either of these things you mention. perhaps your daddy kink has something to do with your relationship to your actual-in-real-life father? but sure, millennials are to blame. makes sense!
dawn 🌄@dawnofthefemme

what business did I have reading Lolita and doing purity tests when I wasn’t even a hs freshman student? it was because of how deeply entrenched i became in lib feminism as a 17yr old that i ended up being raped the first time i had sex. so miss me w that revisionist shit
