@RajpootPrasoon You can bypass CI typically if the PR has been approved. Force merging does require admin privileges (I realise I said force merge)

@olineagu How could you force merge?? In my org only selected few people have access to force merge..that too is reserved for outage type situations.. Normally we have to resolve issues

You push a PR and CI fails, it’s not your fault. Do you rerun? Or do you force merge? 😈

@NapierHolland Is this because it’s an immigrant and they are moving over? They do take major advantage for a couple of years

£36k for a doctor expected to move to Northern Ireland. The UK's single biggest problem is the spiteful, toxic breed of Brit who tries to shame anyone that dares to earn a 'slightly' above-average salary. £30k and above? You're not allowed to have problems.
Shirom Chabra@ShiromChabra

Today, I got my job allocation as an incoming doctor. After 9 years studying at Cambridge, a PhD, and scholarships for ranking high up in my cohort, I’ve been placed in Northern Ireland - hours away from any friends or family and one of my lowest choices. #NHS #FY1 #UKFPO

@tibo_maker That will be great for your mental health. I would hire someone that has the specific job of making sure things go well and you don’t get robbed blind. It will cost extra, but much less than the project extending for 6 more months

I stopped using sonnet. It felt like coding with a drunk friend—fun until he installs new packages or edits other components “for fun.” My prompt used to be 50% instructions and 50% dont-dos. Switched to gemini-2.5. Finally, some peace.

i had a "holy shit" moment in my sleep where I thought "waaaait a minute, we're paying this mortgage for 2 years already, so a big chunk of the house should be paid out by now, right.. RIGHT?" then for the first time I checked the bank statements and saw the % that goes to the bank ..... stabbed me like a knife

@quarleswithtech That’s an interesting thing you’ve noticed, and looking at it through that lens, I notice the same. I guess if I do feature coding with AI, I find it easier to get distracted and harder to get into a flow state.

@olineagu When I started vibe coding I thought it was harder to get into the flow but after doing it for months I flow way harder than before I feel like the difference is in feature based flow vs app based flow - with AI coding I flow with the app more than just a single feature

When coding in English (aka using AI), do you find it's much harder to get into a flow state and not get distracted? I find regular normal coding much more satisfying

@kurekimurat @jasonfried I think the argument is that having that backlog take time which you can use to get shit done. However in my experience planning can be healthy, but maybe it’s not for everyone.

@jasonfried @olineagu That's not always the case. You can have a healthy backlog of relevant stuff, that is periodically reviewed and cleaned up. Also, some apps have very predictable features that need to be delivered.

"If you don't have a backlog, or deep sets of prioritized, ranked items, how do you decide what to do next?" The same way you do. You make decisions. We just make decisions about what to work on next as we go, looking forward, rather than making decisions as we went, looking backwards. Why work from what /seemed/ like a good idea before? Instead, work from appears to be a good idea now. You have more information now — why not use it? It's always baffled me how people who pluck work from long lists of past decisions think you can't make those same kinds of decisions now instead. It's all yay/nay decisions. Same process. Before wasn't magical. Before was just now, then. Why not look at now, now? Now is a far more accurate version of next. The backlog way is based on what you thought then. The non-backlog way is based on what you think now. I'll take now. One's stale, one's fresh. We'll take fresh. Then is further, now is closer. There's nothing special about having made decisions already. They aren't better, they aren't more accurate, they aren't more substantial just because they've been made. What they are, however, is older and often outdated. If you've got to believe in something, I'd suggest putting more faith in now.

There's no such thing as low priority. It's either high priority, or no priority ("it just is"). Multi-level priority systems instituted in software is software doing what it does worst.
