Quartr is a fintech that sells earnings call transcripts and SEC filings. The driest product category on earth. Their logo reveal just pulled 144K views and 497 likes.
I want to break down how that happens, because its a masterclass in brand as distribution.
@Quartr_App aggregates transcripts, filings, slide decks from 15,000+ public companies. Raised 10M. The product is AI infrastructure for company research. On paper this company should have the brand presence of a Bloomberg terminal screenshot.
Instead their co-founder @oliverhamrin, who is also head of brand and design, started making earnings call posters. Beautiful, editorial quality graphic designs for every major company's quarterly call. They look like album covers. People share them like album covers. Rachel Karten featured them in her newsletter as a case study in how a fintech broke through on X
A data company turned earnings calls into cultural objects by making something people wanted to look at, not by explaining what they do.
Then theres the Edge newsletter. Long form narrative business stories. The history of The New York Times. The Richemont and Cartier origin story. Take Two and GTA. The invention of the barcode. Each one gets a bespoke cover designed by Oliver. The NYT thread alone pulled 83 likes and 10K views on tweet one. These read like business journalism, not fintech marketing. Because they are business journalism. The product just happens to be attached.
Their rebrand dropped July 8 with a new logo by agency Offgrid, and Oliver framed the brief as wanting something that could pass for being created in 1842, 1977, 1995, or yesterday. You can tell exactly how a team thinks about brand by the brief they write.
Meanwhile the actual product is plugging into OpenAI Codex, Perplexity via MCP, Merge API. The infrastructure is becoming invisible plumbing but the brand stays visible and tasteful.
And the real lesson is about the co-founder. Oliver has 85K followers. He posts design experiments, analog collages, inspiration archives, routinely pulling 1K+ likes on personal creative work. His personal obsession with craft became the company's competitive moat on social. He IS the brand department.
Most B2B companies treat brand like a line item, something you bolt on after product market fit. Quartr made it the distribution layer. They sell data infrastructure and made it feel like a design studio. And that decision, to try to look interesting instead of just looking professional, is why a logo reveal for a company that sells earnings call transcripts gets more engagement than most product launches.
The product is going invisible. The brand is the only reason anyone knows it exists.

Very excited to finally unveil the new Quartr logo. We wanted something that could pass for being created in 1842, 1977, 1995, or yesterday. That simple, timeless quality that all great logos share. Something built to last. Appreciate your patience with us, @byoffgrid.

@oliverhamrin I never get enough of Karel Martens work. I own one of his books. He was a tutor at the academy I studied on, but for the letterstudio department. I was always star struck when I saw him in the canteen. It’s so timeless.
