@olseaj @farmingandJesus Once again without context. You ignore clear scriptures like Isaiah 43:10 Isaiah 43:10-11
[10] …before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. [11] I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour. While twisting others to fit your false doctrine.
English

@farmingandJesus Paul didn’t have a concept of 16th century Protestant theology.
To him works = circumcision, dietary laws, ritual observations.
So Paul is saying: we are saved in the community of God by faith not by the works of circumcision and dietary laws.
English

Contrary to Mormon teachings we are “saved by grace after all we can do” (2 nephi 25:23)
We are saved by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9)
Not by works of the law or any works at all.
Galatians 5:4 You are severed from Christ, you who would be justified by the law; you have fallen away from grace.
You are severed from christ , and the christ you proclaim is not the christ of the scriptures … your christ cannot save you. He’s no different than the false christ of Islam or any other false religion. Your religion places a heavy burden on you that you can never live up to, but the Christ of the Bible says
“come to me all who are weary and heavy laden , I will give you rest! My yoke is easy and my burden is light!”
The true Christ did the work you will never be able to. Ever.

@dortner1 @AtiliusAtlas @Mormonger @Truth_matters20 If the psalmist was mockingly calling them gods and didn’t mean it then Jesus’ argument falls apart.
The lesser: ye are gods to whom the word comes
The greater: Jesus the anointed one
If the lesser are gods, how much more is Jesus God.
English

@olseaj @AtiliusAtlas @Mormonger @Truth_matters20 It doesn't. It just further demonstrates how unique Jesus is from the fallen and corrupt leaders who were mockingly referred to as gods by the Psalmist
English

@womanwith_brain @farmingandJesus So in your theology, Satan would inspire us to obey the commandments, live a virtuous life, love God and our neighbor as our self - to fool us into getting some nuance of the nature of God wrong which will damn us for eternity because we misunderstand some esoteric doctrine?
English

@olseaj @farmingandJesus … he’s. Because it’s not the God nor Jesus of the Bible.
You think the devil is anything BUT cunning?? I’d recommend reading the Bible again.
English

@dortner1 @AtiliusAtlas @Mormonger @Truth_matters20 Yes, the lesser being us. We are called Gods. The greater is Jesus- he is God’s anointed chosen Son.
If we are Gods, then certainly He is.
The argument falls apart if we are in fact not gods according to scripture.
English

@olseaj @AtiliusAtlas @Mormonger @Truth_matters20 He's contrasting the lesser with the greater. He's saying if the scriptures even used that term for fallen heavenly beings or corrupt human judges, how much more appropriate is it for the one who truly came from heaven and is truly divine.
English

@CarodyRae @farmingandJesus I have a sincere question for you:
What do you believe Paul meant in Acts 17 when he said we are God’s offspring? Doesn’t offspring imply that we are of the same kind? Like begets like? He didn’t say we are Gods creatures arising from nothing.

English

@olseaj @farmingandJesus Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. Is 43:10
English

@dortner1 @AtiliusAtlas @Mormonger @Truth_matters20 If Jesus is not saying that Psalms 82 is saying we are Gods, then his argument makes no sense.
English

@AtiliusAtlas @olseaj @Mormonger @Truth_matters20 As I just explained, that's not what Jesus is doing at all.
English

@dortner1 @Mormonger @Truth_matters20 His point relies on the assumption that we are all divine eternal beings or ‘gods’. If scripture teaches that we are all gods in Psalm 82, ‘ye are Gods’ - how much more is Jesus who is God’s chosen one the Son of God.
English

@olseaj @Mormonger @Truth_matters20 You aren't answering my question.
Jesus' point was that if even those corrupt fallen leaders were called "Gods," how much more appropriate was it for the one who was truly by nature God to be called God. His point wasn't that there are other gods, but to draw a contrast.
English

@dortner1 @Mormonger @Truth_matters20 Jesus quoted this verse to the Jews- he called them Gods ‘to whom the word of God came’. In other words if scripture called them (the Jews) Gods, how can it be blasphemous if Jesus calls himself the Son of God?
John 10:

English

@olseaj @Mormonger @Truth_matters20 Jesus voluntarily condescended and chose to die on a cross even though he was by nature fully God. (See Phil 2:5-11) These beings on the other hand exalt themselves as gods but are under God's control and punishment.
In your theology who exactly are these "divine beings"?
English

@dortner1 @Mormonger @Truth_matters20 Didn’t Jesus die like a mortal?
Is it possible that we are divine eternal beings with mortal bodies?
English

@olseaj @Mormonger @Truth_matters20 But the very next verse says "But you will die like mere mortals; you will fall like every other ruler.”
What kind of 'Gods' can die like mortals? In what sense are they truly "divine"?
English

@Mormonger @Truth_matters20 You're missing the point. The key question is what is the nature of these "divine" beings. Were they actually Gods in any meaningful sense of the term? Or were they created subordinate beings like angels or demons--as later Biblical authors like Daniel and Paul suggest?
English

@CarodyRae @farmingandJesus Really? Paul say we are joint heirs with Christ, Revelations says those who overcome will sit down with him on his throne just like he sits on his Father’s throne. What else could that possibly mean?
English

@olseaj @farmingandJesus None of these are scriptures. Therefore all are uninspired and have errors.
English

@CarodyRae @farmingandJesus Here are some quote from the church fathers:
Athanasius of Alexandria

English

@discipleheart1 @farmingandJesus Nobody has exposed the Book of Mormon.
Those are some pretty uncharitable words from a professing Christian- where do you read in the Bible Jesus teaching us to mischaracterize and denigrate other believers?
Have a nice day.
English

@olseaj @farmingandJesus The book of Mormon has been exposed countless times by ex-Mormons. They have written about it in numerous accounts.
You do not embrace the deity of Christ.
End of story. There’s nothing else to say. You are a cult.
You preach another Jesus. We know what Paul said about that.
