@signalgaining @nvidia You don’t need a display/keyboard! Connect via USB and use the “screen” command to access its serial terminal. You can configure everything directly on your laptop, then ssh in as needed. Something like: sudo screen /dev/ttyACM0 115200

Very annoying to carry a monitor, keyboard, and mouse to develop on an @nvidia Jetson. What if you just needed a USB-C cable and that's it? Make it feel like deploying an iOS app!

@blind_via Looks like one of the lightning towers and erector was destroyed. The shockwave hit the HIF building so any rockets stored there are likely totaled. Very tragic day

Riding a rocket to space is like riding on top of a giant explosive, if it controls the explosion correctly, it sends you space, if not.... That was one huge explosion, they definitely damaged some launch pad infrastructure with that one.

Wonder how Artemis schedules will be altered due to the Blue Origin explosion. Surprisingly the same launchpad (LC 36A) suffered the biggest explosion in Cape history due to a Atlas Centaur in 1965

@therealcarlin You already know the engineers wanted to easily remedy a messed up PCB design w/o a respin by using a different part. Wonder how many people got burned by this

@splinedrive Overhead costs of all the abstractions needed for an OS. Also the main reason why older hardware just was a lot snappier even with <128MB RAM (while 8GB is borderline unusable now)

It’s crazy when you take a big fat machine and start building out the whole memory system and making it Linux-capable, how the performance just drops down hard. It’s honestly insane. Before, it felt like an absolute beast of a machine, and now, damn, the thing really gets hammered.

Built this CAN module in 2024 as a general purpose body-control-module for vehicles. Uses a MCP25625 controller and a dual high side drive to control peripherals via vehicle events. Thinking of making a cleaner open source version for robotics/automation.

Card-Sat V0 is done! This is a business-card sized satellite. Many lessons learned here. At ~$80/sat I was north of beating $50SAT out for the title of cheapest satellite but at least I got to learn to make custom radios, solar panels etc. Next up: deployment & comms tests
