@xmubashir Pakistani motorcyclists' aversion to using indicators is one of the great mysteries of this country.

@mibo_b @motasim Can say with confidence that if the FIA is to lead any crackdown against hundi/hawala agents, it is best not to waste any time as most of the operators pay hefty monthlies to FIA officials as 'license fee'.

Massive crackdown on hawala/hundi agents as Pakistan gears up to bring back money sent through hundi to the UAE. Dubai has been informed that they can no longer keep this money and respect to Pakistan tax laws is mandatory.

Chachu Nadeem PIDE walay positioned himself for years as an untiring champion against corruption, bureaucracy/DMG, while he was squatting, all along, in a building that is emblematic of the systemic graft, corruption/elite-capture that he's been waging an imaginary Jihad against!

@Napoha_ Another exhibit of a major disease afflicting the Pakistani polity: the split loyalties of many of its citizens.

@RizWanKenobi_ Pakistan's rich have never been interested in fixing the country's problems: they lust only after bovine comfort and foreign passports.

For me the worst thing about the solar revolution is that it insulates the rich from all the electricity issues, so they have no incentive in fixing the system. The poor can neither afford solar nor own property to install it on. It's expensive to be poor.
Eusafxae 1520 ▪️@Eusafxae_

Peshawar rooftops covered with solar panels because of extreme loadshedding. Pakhtunkhwa produces 5600 MW electricity while demand is 3000 MW. We generate MORE than we consume. Yet Pashtuns still suffer because our power is sent to national grid instead of helping local needs.

@policytensor Nor can you ever become a great power with an infantile attitude towards neighbouring countries. Not many cases, maybe none, of mass hysteria on such a scale.

@Sajidaminjaved Also, the huge amount of speculative activity currently in the Iranian Rial is being handled entirely by the parallel black market. Legal exchange companies don't deal in Iranian rial. So much for the SBP's writ.

@Sajidaminjaved The parallel black market is thriving at the moment. It pays sellers 3-5 rupees extra per dollar. As for buyers, try to purchase 3-5k dollars from any exchange company: you will be refused 9/10 times. Institutions asleep at the wheel as usual. Or complicit.

Exchange rate must not be any on’s wish. Simply, its is price of currency that must be adjusting to economic fundamentals. Accumulating depreciation by ad hock overvaluations is dangerous and we have paid huge price in form step fall and parallel black currency markets.
Shahbaz Rana@81ShahbazRana

Central bank implies 5% currency depreciation based on the REER that is shared below. But experts like @ashfaqtola and DPM Ishaq Dar believe rupee should be more stronger. The Tola Associates sees value at Rs251 and it has demanded that The SBP must present the pricing model rather than merely providing the REER notional value.

"And if the United States is now the world's biggest oil and gas producer, are we just a "gas station masquerading as a country"? Or does our more diversified economy somehow make us a real country?" Co-sign, these phrases drive me crazy.
Emma Ashford@EmmaMAshford

This phrase drives me crazy. What does it mean to say "a gas station masquerading as a country"? Does it mean that the millions of people who live in these states don't have lives, hopes, preferences? That any state whose primary export is oil is meaningless?

@dmuthuk Knowing what is going on in the world, I expected better from you. One thing is certain, due to the small-mindedness of Indians such as yourself, there is no chance that India will become a 'superpower' in this century. Keep dreaming.

The second US Iran summit is likely to take place in Pakistan early next week. The first summit happened in Islamabad Serena Hotel. Hotel spent lot of money for hosting the summit. The hotel owner is telling press no one has paid for the cost incurred by him for summit. In simple words, nobody is settling the bill. These are usual Pakistani things.

TCS was once known as a reliable and fast courier service in Pakistan, gaining the trust of countless customers. However, over time, their service quality has significantly declined. Despite charging a premium for their deliveries, the service they now provide falls far below expectations. Customers are increasingly frustrated with delays, poor tracking, and inconsistent delivery standards. It’s disheartening to see such a reputable company lose its edge, especially when customers continue to pay a hefty price for services that no longer meet the standards they once promised. #TCSPAKISTAN

Loved a lot of the elements of this speech from @MohsinnaqviC42. Pakistan needs to take actionable steps to create a whole new generation of business leaders. This will only happen with availability of institutional entrepreneurial finance. There is no other way. Otherwise we will have the same community that has a monopoly on capital.

This announcement came as a shock for everyone. Why : 1. First the amount of 100 billion dollars. Staggering by any standards. No one ever knew Pakistan was that rich. That comes to literally 3 billion per month every single month over 3 years. 2. If my understanding is correct this is money laundering? What does it say about our controls, systems & all those institutions which are supposed to control and under whose watch such a staggering amount continued for 3 years. 3. Just as a reminder, our total IMF loan is only 7 billion dollars spread over 3 years. And as a condition of this loan, IMF controls literally all our financial / economic decisions. Why would we need IMF if we have so much abundance of dollars?

@Real_MZubair All networks and individuals engaged in illegal transfer of money abroad and FX trading are thriving despite dumb SBP actions in recent years. The FIA is also complicit. Go and try to purchase a significant amount of FX from an exchnage company and 9/10 times they will refuse.
