Neighbors just released a new angle of the ICE shooting and it settles any debate on what actually happened. This was a mother doing something completely ordinary: Dropping somebody off, then trying to leave. She goes to pull out, stops for one car to pass, then waves the agents to drive past. Within seconds, those ICE agents exit their vehicle and rush her, shouting and escalating the situation. Panicked, she tries to drive away and gets shot in the face three times. She posed no threat, showed no intent to harm, and was interfering with no one. She was a civilian going about her life. The official statements that followed contradict the footage and read like an attempt to rewrite what happened. This was a reckless, unjustified killing, followed by a dishonest effort to evade responsibility. It’s horrifying, and it exposes something deeply wrong with the US government and these ICE agents. They must be held accountable. This is not a partisan issue. I need you to lock in gang.

I’m sorry for the long post but a lot of you have followed me for a long time, since 2016 when I was one of the first to repeatedly call out Trump for being a Russian asset. I don’t know how else to say this, as a person who has studied cults (wrote a bestseller about it) and totalitarian states. I’ve been attacked on Fox News, berated by the VP and others and like many of you, I’ve gotten death threats. So please believe me when I say this. Things have changed. ICE is going to be the vehicle for fascism in this country. The extra-judicial practices (no warrants, no ID), the masks (anonymity leads to horrors again and again throughout history), the dehumanization of immigrants and Democrats (dehumanization precedes arrests, torture, murder, again and again). No we are not going to be Nazi Germany because nothing in history matches Nazi Germany. But fascism has arrived in America. Here is how it is going to happen: ICE will be the vehicle, the gestapo empowered by the President, to enforce his will, first among vulnerable undocumented people, then among legal immigrants, then among political rivals, then among citizens who speak out against the Trump grift. This is not a hypothetical. It’s happening. That Big Dumb Racist bill gives $170 billion dollars for an organization which has no respect for the constitution, no oversight, nothing but marching orders from a couple racist, power-hungry madmen. $170 billion to build hidden prisons with no oversight. To put this in perspective, this is 62% larger than the entire federal prison system. $170 billion to drag people out of their places of work, parks, homes. $170 billion to hire racist little man babies who hide their faces as they assault children, old people, pregnant women. How do you think this goes? How has this ever gone in history? We are entering a dark period. Our only hope is to draw the line now. To stick up for our friends and neighbors, our co-workers and loved ones, who are undocumented and being hunted. If morality or empathy for them is not enough to motivate you, fine. Then let this be your motivation: if you don’t draw this line, you are next. Do you think Trump will grow a conscience? Do you think Stephen Miller will have any trouble going from, “these people are criminals” (them) to “these people are helping criminals?” (You, by being against Trump). To “we must arrest the traitors opposing our efforts to arrest criminals?” (You or anyone you care about who publicly opposes Trump.) Do you think republican congressman are going to care? To lift onefinger to protect you? To do anything which gets in the way of Trump’s agenda? A person who has no problem letting children with cancer die in order to put a few dollars in the pockets of rich men will have no problem with letting Democrats and activists rot in jail for trying to stop it. This has happened again and again throughout the world. And now it’s happening here. I wish I had concrete plans. I don’t. Not now. All I know is the first step for change is identifying the gravity of the truth. And the truth is fascism has arrived in America. And we must stop it in its tracks or it will swallow all of us.

@afilina @OVHcloud building in-house servers and we moved critical apps to hosted solutions. Some of our heavy duty, non-blocking async processing works were running on OVH, everything else was outsourced. I dont think I will ever trust OVH again.

@afilina @OVHcloud a "hacker group" made targeted attacks for known OVH customers and we were one of the targets. We lost customer data, logs in an incident that we could not resolve in time. Ultimately, we started spending more money on making sure OVH "works" by replicating data ->

Put my trust in @OVHcloud, there's an unreported outage on day 2, and no way to report or get immediate support. Disappointed so far.

@KenneyNL Ive been coding since I was 7. Im 40 now. I used to copy code from magazines, from books, from mails, from websites, .. from AI. I dont see that much difference. I spent 4y w Blender, bought 50+courses and I refuse to generate art with AI. Coding is sideeffect. Art represents.

I disagree. It's a clear sign of how much effort went into the game, especially the art. It matters for customers to know, and it often hints at what they can expect from the rest of the game.

@jamesacowling In REST, "everything a service does" is represented by resources and actions embedded within them, not verbs. Those are just technical details of the HTTP protocol and REST can be implemented without them. Therefore it's OK to only use GET and POST.

You can't represent everything a service does via an extremely limited set of verbs. This is why everyone misuses REST and sneakily writes data in GETs or uses POST for everything. Just use RPCs. You're a programmer, you like functions. You'd probably like Convex.

@meijer_s No one needs them but its easier to hide complexity behind a magic string and market as a simple solution that lowers the bar than teaching about abstractions. You also tie them to ur framework instead of giving people flexibility to choose something else.

Amount of love given to Danya post-mortem is unprecedented. I can't recall anything of the kind. But here is the problem - where all of you were when Danya was alive and unwell? I am not talking now about stepping in when he was accused. Although it is a separate important matter. I know many people find it hard to express their opinion, as the problem is indeed huge, and striking a balance is nearly impossible. One thing is clear : the way Kramnik approaches it, simply can't be accepted. And his reaction on Danya's passing is appalling and outright shameful. FIDE is not a court of justice, but we will act within our jurisdiction. However, let's not oversimplify it. It is too simple to focus on Kramnik and forget everything else. Danya was clearly not at his best in recent months. He stopped appearing as a commentator for one reason or another, he was not his usual self. Now, all those who claim how dear Danya was to their heart, how good a friend they were, where have you been? What did you do? All these Kramnik attacks on Danya happened not this week or month. It was not like a shocking accusation, that killed Danya overnight. It kept haunting him for more than a year, even if there was not much of polemics of recent. So, I ask you, alleged Danya's friends, what did you do to help him for half a year or so? Did many of you write him to ask, whether he is OK? Why he, arguably the best online commentator disappeared from the screens? Did you text him to ask why did he stop streaming? Throughout 15 years I spoke to Danya many times, though we never were friends. He fascinated me long before he became a famous streamer. I met him when he just started being coached by my former trainer, Lev Psakhis. And we spoke rarely but in length many times since. I look at our correspondence from 2014, when he was thinking of a life path. And then later in 2017, and in 2019, and in 2021. Most recent online conversation was in 2024 when I invited him to comment on the Match in Singapore. And the last time I spoke to him in person was during the Grand Swiss in Samarkand, where he seconded a top player, hiding this fact for one reason or another. All the recent years I had a feeling Danya was not a happy person, although he made many people happy. Our last lengthy conversation took place in 2021, when he was already a famous online player and streamer, but still was considering a career of a real professional player. He was very much in doubt whether he is doing the right thing with all the blitz and streaming - he even considered moving to Europe to have more opportunities as a player, "but it is very difficult with all the online success I have". It came at a price. The boy with shining eyes had less and less shining left. And now, he is gone. Way too early. If he looks from above, he might be surprised to read about this or that person allegedly being his friend. Danya was kind to many, but it feels like most of the time he was lonely. Virtue signalling and like-grabbing is the worst way to pay respect to Danya. He was special on so many levels. He will be missed - or rather he is very much missed already. The Danya.
