Normally at @GEMSDPA, we make #WorldBookDay a week long focus with library visits, author workshops and lots of reading! With a high likelihood there will be some children at home this year, what are people planning so as to engage as many as possible? @_Reading_Rocks_

Year 6 have worked hard on their new @Cornerstonesedu topic ‘A Child’s War’. Their recent evacuee day, as well as the English unit on WW1 poetry inspired by @tompalmerauthor’s ‘Armistice Runner’, meant that today was even more powerful and meaningful.

Very excited to have @jamescarterpoet 'in school' tomorrow for two poetry workshops. We're looking forward to seeing the river poems that children produce at the end - they'll all be raring to write as they're eating porridge in the morning (as per James' writing tips).

A great celebration from @GEMSDPA celebrating @clpe1 #CLPEWordsForTheWorld. We loved being able to explore @OliverJeffers’ book, discovering how much it means to all of us. We have used poetry, narrative writing and discussions to travel all over the Earth, from land to sky.

We were very excited to receive the books to send out to some of our families, especially during lock down. Thank you very much! We're definitely looking forward to seeing how we can keep working together in the future.
