My ex faked a pregnancy because I told her I was leaving. We had been fighting nonstop for months and I was exhausted. I sat her down that night and said I cannot do this anymore. She started crying and pulled out a test with two lines. I froze. I was 22 and scared but I thought I had to man up. Cancelled my trip to Lagos. Moved my stuff back to her place. For three months I followed her to every antenatal visit she booked. I bought folic acid, baby clothes, even painted one wall of her room. She would send me voice notes of baby names and rub her belly. I told my parents. My mum started sewing baby stuff. Then her cousin got drunk at a party and pulled me aside.
