The unspoken truth about why the largest L1s don’t have the best perps is because the teams that know perps the best want to control the execution layer. So they create their own permissioned, centralized chains and don’t have to deal with bureaucracy. But they give up the one thing that makes DeFi worth building for. Decentralization and censorship resistance. The reality is you can have the best of both worlds. It just takes longer to get there.

There is a sentiment i saw somewhere among some crypto circles that the ongoing “era of toys” (refering to memecoins) has ended, and that now the big boys are turning this into a real tools of finance (RWA, tokenization, stablecoins). I personally think that the big boy tool have always been here. Bitcoin has always been the serious thing since day one.

@Leishman well said. i share this sentiment. too prevalent in crypto ecosystems where the very thing that onboards a lot of consumers (memecoins, NFTs, derivatives) end up extracting from them so badly that they resort to full resentment of the space and write it off for good.
