@onechiswick

Pro High Traffic Neighbourhoods. Priority for SUVs, no to bike lanes, LTNs. More followers & funnier than the other OneChiswick. Parodical.

OneChiswick is delighted @JoannaBiddolph will be fixing the Hounslow election to ensure only car-zealot cllrs are elected! #MakeChiswickGreatAgain #MCGA

Local elections 7th May: We, the Conservative group at @LBofHounslow, have published our manifesto. We will fix the basics, spending your council tax on common sense policies for people and neighbourhoods not ideology or box ticking. Read it in full below: online.flippingbook.com/view/815255486…

@RobertKwolek @deetvleet @CreativeOpus @LBofHounslow @RonnieMushiso There are discussions in many roads about options where tree roots are affecting safe walking or blocking walking space. Several considerations including creating bottle necks that could cause more problems as your before photo and after image show. It's a borough-wide issue.

There's a pavement near me which the tree roots have seriously raised up. One has to step over it. Many councils would consider chopping the tree down. Instead, why not fill the area with bountiful planting and create a pavement bypass. More function and more beauty.

It's not just cars v bikes, though, is it? In a big city like London the real investment has to be in the mass people movers (trains & tubes), with buses for shorter trips, to attract people from their cars and bikes and so free up Europe's most congested streets for those whose livelihood depends on their vehicles - tradespeople, cabbies, carers, delivery drivers etc - or those who need their cars to get about such as many disabled people. Bicycles can be valuable but for short, local trips, largely off the main rds, not for commuter trips, eating up valuable main road space.

This is why protected cycle lanes matter. One lane can move up to 7× more bikes than cars per hour. Bikes take a fraction of the road space, freeing up the rest of the road. Private car drivers, you’re welcome 😉 🚲

LTNs: "We must pivot from restrictive, punitive measures that disproportionately squeeze lower-income households toward a strategy built on common-sense and innovation ... People are fed up with all these punishing restrictions and punitive measures." conservativehome.com/2026/02/24/fes…

@Rojblake1 Yes, we can. And I do. The bus gate in #Chiswick Gunnersbury ward is also loathed by residents and businesses. It's due to be removed but, despite being told it was temporary and easy to remove, it's not easy for TfL to find the cash from its multi-billion pound budget.

Why do organisations keep on telling us that what we experience is not what is happening? In my experience, residents know when they are being brainwashed - and brainwashers know they are brainwashing. TfL & councils should admit they got it wrong - and remove floating bus stops.
Vincent Stops@VincentStops

It’s over a month now since TfL took down a report that said their data found older & disabled people were not put off buses by floating bus stops. A wild assertion from an analysis riddled with errors. telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/01/2…

5 yrs ago, my son did his first solo bike ride to central London, ~20mile return. Lockdown helped, in Feb 21, traffic was 30–40% lower, making streets feel safer. It’s not that kids as young as 3 can’t cycle, it’s the environment that enables: cycle lanes, LTNs, safe spaces. 🚲

LTNs: They've had plenty of time to "bed in" and still all they achieve is community division, displacement of congestion to other roads and neighbourhoods and worse bus journey times. Oh, and,😉, a sudden huge increase in fines to pay for yet more vanity projects. @LBofHounslow

Another tweet from you that is way off-the-mark. Do you know anything about Daniel Moylan's history when as a councillor he was in charge of transport at Ken and Chelsea? He pioneered Exhibition Rd and his plans on High St Ken were amongst the first to to remove pedestrian guardrails. He was not a roadbuilder.

@drewsnx @KathrynPorter26 Vincent is infantilising blind and disabled people while simultaneously demonising people who ride bikes. All because of his wounded pride that he lost his battle against cycle lanes 20 years ago. He’s a total arsehole.

@OpenChiswickW4 OneChiswick can confirm that @HFConsCllrs military-style bridge refers to the Chinese People's Liberation Army who would simply requisition the land and demolish existing buildings to build a bridge. We welcome Communism if it means we can drive our SUVs where we like.

This video is brilliant. 🤭 It features people who believe that parklets have magical qualities that other immovable objects, like parked SUVs for instance, do not possess, and which make them uniquely dangerous to people at risk from inattentive drivers. Check them out 😁
