The Agile Manifesto is “service agile” not “product agile” and it doesn’t really work for digital product innovation. Thread:

@chriswingrove74 @nedboulting You don't have to live the rest of your life in sackcloth and ashes if you've done something wrong, particularly if you've put significant effort into making things right.

@zack_overflow It’s one of those books that makes you aware of the things that you don’t know and draws the broad brush strokes for you. That’s important work!

I bought this book like 4 years ago and I hate it, it's so overrated It's too high-level for actually implementing anything Probably it's good if you're a PM and want to expand your breadth of knowledge I don't think it's actually good for engineers

@JustSteveKing I use I like a sounding board and to get me unstuck. Double check architectural decisions. Critique my software design - what concerns might I have missed etc.

@JustSteveKing Claude for coding marginally over GPT imo. The projects feature is good. You put all your project docs in there and when you start a new chat it has all that context.

So I was going to pay for an AI product, like ChatGPT or Claude etc. As a developer which one do you recommend? Which should I invest my time into? I have a free copilot account, so looking for others

@dcrainmakerblog And yet I pay for it.... May stop if I can't use my Strava data to train my AI coaching platform though.

@dcrainmakerblog In general Strava is just disappointingly rubbish in all sorts of ways. It really should be much better given the amount of money they rake in.

Strava has issued an update in response. Albeit, the update mostly doubles-down on things and tries to mislead people...but hey, it's an update. Details here: #update-from-strava-nov-19th" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">dcrainmaker.com/2024/11/strava… (should link to exact update section in post)

Strava’s just announced some massive changes that will ultimately kill off a lot of 3rd party apps, impact other platforms, and reduce the value of Strava. Here’s why this matters, who’s it going to break, and more: dcrainmaker.com/2024/11/strava…

@jeremyphoward Threads - the Instagram / Facebook connection is toxic / not the right vibe, Mastodon - too complicated, feels lower quality, Bluesky - looks and feels like old Twitter.

Wow! What on earth happened here? (I don't mean "why did so many people move to a different social network," but "why did they all go to 🦋")

I did *not* write a book on "igniting your purpose". 😬 That would be the *other* charity majors, pastor's wife and life coach and my personal nemesis.

@nedboulting I bet 50p I’m the only listener to Never Strays Far that saw From Ibiza to the Norfolk Broads (mentioned by Tom) at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2001.

@HedgeDirty Kind of depends on the type of work too. Taking phone calls and meeting with potential clients if you own a business or are in sales is easy to knock out 40-50 hours cause it’s casual work. 40-50 hours doing tedious computer work is brutal in my opinion having been in both seats

I think there's a massive unexplored gap between people who think "work-life balance" means working 50 hrs/wk instead of 60 and people who think it means working 28 hrs/wk instead of 35

@onejamesbrowne Yes, as long as the shared tokens are all at the beginning of the prompt You can tell if you were getting the discount by looking at the usage block in the JSON - look for this:

I am finding myself turning to gpt-4o-mini a whole lot more since they added prompt caching last month - where you get an automated 50% discount if you send the same tokens twice or more It is fantastic for use-cases like answering questions about a medium sized codebase
