I’ve spoken on this before, but I feel the need to address it again.
Lately, I’ve seen more chatter around punters and celebrity content creators who promote gaming companies using registration links and promo codes. Some claim punters earn a percentage when their followers lose and while that narrative has been floating around, it’s important to break things down from someone who actually understands the system and has experience.
When a gaming company partners with a punter, they usually offer one of two models:
1.Fixed Pay Deal:
This is like a salary. You’re paid to promote the brand regardless of your followers’ performance. It’s straightforward and often preferred by experienced punters.
2.Revenue Share Model:
This is where you’re offered a percentage (typically 20–30%) of the profit the company earns from your referrals. While it sounds attractive, it’s risky especially because you can have months where you earn nothing due to negative carryovers (You won’t get paid for months, you really don’t have power over what loses and what wins, to you Real Madrid to score in the final was a banker but what happened ? So you will always have negatives)
Personally, I can only speak for myself and a few top punters I know in this space but many (experienced) don’t take revenue share deals. Why? Because it’s not sustainable long-term. It’s unreliable, and in some cases, it feels like working for the bookie, not for your audience. You’re tied to their profit, not your value or performance.
Take 23Bet for example. Ever wonder why you don’t see many promoting them anymore? They used to offer both fixed and revenue share models. Once they switched to only revenue share, most punters backed out. Those still with them likely retained fixed contracts, the rest moved on.
Working on a revenue-only model in this industry is like modern slavery. It stifles your creativity and responsibility as a punter. A fixed model gives you room to focus on doing what matters, helping your followers win.
Now, let’s be honest, every punter or content creator promoting platforms like Bet9ja, Paripesa, Sportybet, Stake, 1xBet, Helabet, Melbet, Msports, Betano and others are getting paid. You are an ambassador for the brands, Some promote multiple brands because they’re that good. Others stick to just a few. It’s a tough game, and everyone has their lane.
The promo codes and links? That’s how bookies track conversions. It’s the most competitive space in marketing where only the best with strong strategies survive. It’s a numbers game, not magic.
There may still be some who rely on revenue share, but mostly out of inexperience or lack of better offers. We’re all punters, and some of you reading this might even be better than most of us. That said, punting is hard. and while there are bad actors in this space, people who exploit followers, there are also many honest, hardworking punters.
Here’s the truth: If someone’s tips are consistently making you money, stick with them. If you’re losing more than winning, step back and reassess. Gambling is global, Europeans and Asians bet far more than we do and have more punters too but it can ruin you if you don’t manage it properly.
Please, seek help if you feel you’re addicted. Bet responsibly. No bet is worth your peace.
Some punters are probably even addicted too and they don’t know it, personally I bet way more than anyone ever will on my tips because I believe in them more than anyone else.
