Found new inspiration and motivation in Japan. Today begins my journey to memorize the 2084 kanji requisite to clear JLPT N1, radically expand my Japanese vocabulary and add 0.5" to my arms. Goals for the next 12mo: -Memorize all kanji for JLPT N1 -Learn half (~5K words) the vocab requires for JLPT N1. STRETCH GOAL: 10k words -Add 0.5" to arms. STRETCH GOAL: +1.0" -Maintain waist. STRETCH GOAL: -0.5" Follow me for boring daily updates of my progression!

The reaction to Dawkins deciding Claude is conscious is fascinating. It really is just the Strong AI position that Roger Penrose was criticising in the 1980s. If you think consciousness is just an emergent property of a sufficiently complex computer then of course AI is conscious. It passes the Turing test and that’s it. The really interesting part is why it is obvious to so many of us that AI is *not* conscious: obvious to the point we think Dawkins’ credulity is amusing. What are we basing that on? Are we deluded or is there something else to consciousness that we cannot articulate but that we clearly sense?

Up 27% since the war started. My advice to you, friend: seek responsibility. Do that and you will find life is infinitely more meaningful and worth living. Start small. Get a pet. Help your parents. Help your siblings. Get a job. Do more than your jobs requires. Make friends. Help them. Find a woman. Marry her. Protect and provide for her. Have children. Protect and provide for them. When you have done all of that and are so thoroughly depended upon by so many people, you will find that you are incapable of so carelessly and selfishly gambling your life while demanding billions of others do the same. And you won't need to do so to feel a part of something special or important, because you will already be a part of those things.
