“I was a Muslim and I became a Christian, and one of the things I went through after converting was being locked up by the DSS for three days. I was 18 when I was detained by the DSS in Abuja. While I was there, I realized we have the technology to fight insecurity, but they refuse to use it.” — An ex-Muslim lady turned Christian shares her experience in Abuja.

Police Officer K!lls a Baby During Tenant Dispute In Anambra 💔: “A Deeply Tragic And Disturbing Incident Has Been Reported In Okija, Anambra State, Where a Landlord Involved The Police In a Dispute With a Tenant. According To Eyewitnesses, The Tenant Was Not At Home When The Police Officers Arrived. During The Intervention, One Of The Officers Attempted To Slap a Relative Of The Tenant But Missed And Instead Struck Her Baby. The Child Sadly Died From The Impact And Fall 💔. This Heartbreaking Incident Is a Painful Reminder Of The Devastating Consequences Of Excessive Force And Unprofessional Conduct. No Civil Dispute Should Ever Lead To The Loss Of An Innocent Life. The Incident Further Highlights The Urgent Need For Accountability, Restraint, And Proper Policing Standards.” ~ Uche Nworah Reports😔💔

The Nigeria Police Force is aware of the viral video involving ASP Newton Isokpehi. Our response has been swift, decisive, and clear. The officer has been identified, and disciplinary procedures have commenced at the Anambra State Command. IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, has taken further action. Alongside disciplinary proceedings, he has ordered a mental evaluation, medical assessment, and drug testing for ASP Isokpehi to ensure a thorough and transparent investigation. Accountability in this case involves both appropriate consequences and institutional understanding. We affirm that all Nigerians and officers have the right to lawfully record police officers performing their duties. This right is real, protected, and will be upheld by the Force. However, this right carries responsibilities. Recordings that obstruct operations, compromise officer safety, or endanger the public are not protected. There is a clear distinction between lawful accountability and interference with police duties. WHEN LAWFUL BOUNDARIES ARE RESPECTED BY ALL PARTIES, accountability and public safety can coexist effectively. ASP Isokpehi’s actions and comments were inappropriate, threatening, and unprofessional. He is therefore subject to disciplinary measures. The outcome of this disciplinary process will be made public. We are committed to ensuring transparency.

NPF CONDEMNS THREATENING CONDUCT BY POLICE OFFICER IN VIRAL VIDEO, ORDERS IMMEDIATE DISCIPLINARY ACTION The Nigeria Police Force has taken cognisance of a viral video circulating on social media involving ASP Newton Isokpehi, in which the officer was seen making threatening remarks against members of the public filming police activities. The Force wishes to state unequivocally that the conduct and utterances exhibited in the video are unacceptable, unprofessional, and inconsistent with the ethics, standards, and code of conduct of the Nigeria Police Force. Such actions run contrary to the ongoing reform initiatives of the Force aimed at promoting transparency, accountability, professionalism, and citizen-focused policing. The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, has consistently maintained that members of the public have the right to lawfully record police officers carrying out their duties, provided such recording does not obstruct operations, compromise safety, or interfere with lawful police activities. In line with this position, the officer involved has since been identified and summoned to the Anambra State Command Headquarters where immediate disciplinary procedures have commenced. The Nigeria Police Force does not tolerate threats, intimidation, abuse of office, or any conduct capable of undermining public trust and confidence in law enforcement institutions. The Force further reiterates that recording police activities remains a legitimate tool for public accountability and transparency and should not, in itself, attract harassment or intimidation from police personnel while discharging their duties. A formal statement detailing the outcome of the disciplinary measures taken against the officer will be communicated in due course. The Nigeria Police Force appreciates members of the public for their continued partnership and constructive engagement in promoting accountability, professionalism, and improved policing standards across the country. DCP ANTHONY OKON PLACID psc(+) mni Force Public Relations Officer Force Headquarters, Abuja 21st May, 2026

“A senior police officer in Anambra police command sold a vehicle of a ki napped victim to a car dealer, Nati motors in. Anambra police command just announced the incident but refused to mention the senior officer who sold the vehicle and was paid millions of Naira by car dealer, Nati motors. Even Nati motors refused to show us the name on the transaction slip. They are working with the corrupt police officers in Anambra. When a junior officer commits a cri me, he will be immediately punished but the senior officers are protected and covered.”—Harrison Gwamnishu
