On OA 1085, we discussed how President Biden can save lives ahead of the Trump presidency and we wanted to mobilize you, our community, to demand this action via our petition below. It's time we let our voices be heard off the air. Every signature counts: change.org/p/joe-biden-mu…

@donald112 Yeah as of this week this is really extra not the place to be. We'll be keeping a presence here but much more active on BS

Here it is, the one place where Republicans care about consent
Vivek Ramaswamy@VivekGRamaswamy
Simple immigration policy: - No migration without consent. - Consent should only be granted to migrants who benefit America. - Those who enter without consent must be removed. Turns out most Americans actually agree with us on this.

@ItsOtherwise I just had never given any thought to how politicized work like that could get, really appreciate this information and context!

@openargs I’m not surprised we didn’t make the list. The entire private environmental sector of biologists, archaeologists, etc, will see the things they’re passionate about destroyed while trying to rationalize that at least maybe they’re making some positive impact in the meantime.

@openargs I manage a forum of 5,000 American archaeologists. There is extreme angst about what this admin means for our jobs. Deregulation will likely lead to more work on federal lands, but ending NAGPRA, the NHPA, and the Antiquities Act will change how ethical or long-term our work is.

@GivenGrace1986 It's 2028. Several of the Florida state teachers union leaders refused to sign it and were placed on house arrest pending investigation. They were immediately replaced with people who would.

10/ Palantir. McKinsey, and Harvard Law have all been useful tools in the service of the worst things the government has done in our lifetimes. If you are on this kind of track, you were already more likely to be facing these choices anyway

English

@sielaffc Very true! Picked Palantir bc it is already known for this kind of thing but that really does make your point
English

@openargs I was with you until this one. If you’re a coder for Palantir and you DON’T somehow already know that Thiel and co. are psychotic right wing freaks, then idk what to tell you. People don’t absently fall into working for a company named after the evil seeing stone.
