@ozeniken It’ll never touch the firmware or bootloader of the mouse. Also every mouse that is being added will be checked before public release (to actually see what data is safe to read and write) + there are checks in place if something errors out or fails

@openmouseapp idrc if the ui is vibe coded but did a human write the webusb code because a wrong write can brick a mouse with bad firmware

@PatateTWH Totally fair concern. OpenMouse doesn’t ask for personal information or require an account. Mouse communication runs locally through WebHID and requires your permission. Nothing from your mouse is uploaded, and the source code is public for anyone to review.

Could be cool, could be malware like the recent val tracker or other vibecoded stuff. No idea if it is or not, but do your research before putting your names, passwords, etc... The idea itself is great and would make things a lot more consumer friendly (though I doubt brands would accept letting go of their own data selling profits)
