I think I've sorted it. I'll add some SnowFlake-specific notes to my existing post on DB links over ODBC.

All the Snowflake examples I can see are pretty much what I've done before for DB links to SQL Server and MySQL, all use username/password to authenticate. No matter what I do, it always seems to report the JWT Token is invalid, even though it works fine with isql.

Has anyone got a database link from Oracle to Snowflake to work, specifically the JWT Token for authentication to Snowflake, not username/password? The "isql DSN" call works fine, but I can't get the Oracle Heterogeneous Service for ODBC bit to work.

💯 Blows my mind when people equate their social media being filled with examples of "I agent-ified my kettle and now it telegram's me when its boiled" with "Yup, I reckon it's time to vibe code a replacement for my core banking infrastructure"
Adi Polak@AdiPolak

Stakes matter. A lot. If an agent breaks some images on your personal blog, fine. You’ll recover. But if you’re operating in healthcare, where a bug could affect drug dosage, or in banking, where systems are moving real money, hope is not a strategy. You do not get to casually “agentify” high-risk systems and pray it works. The consequences of failure scale fast.

@connor_mc_d Exactly this!!!! I see this all the time, especially from management types. Like, "AI summarised the meeting notes really well, so it must be able to do everything equally well. Let's use it to replace all the developers..."

AI is only as good as what it knows. For Oracle Database, that's been a problem. Built a library of 100+ practical guides to fix that — covering everything from PL/SQL to ORDS to migrations. Open source, MIT license. github.com/krisrice/oracl…

@krisrice It's actually pretty useful regardless of if you are using AI or not. I've posted it out to our developers as another resource to look at. Thanks!

@renenyffenegger I just checked with 10053 trace. They are new functions, and still present in the query after the final query transformations. So not syntax sugar.

@oraclebase Do you happen to know if these calender functions are translated by the SQL compiler to TRUNC(<val>, 'format')?

@oelma__ It happened to me. I had the microwave about 3 days. The plate just shattered mid use. I bought a new one off Amazon really cheap. The new one has been fine. I think there is probably a defect in the plate already, which caused it.
