@eheisenbeerg @Tega_Gabriel Enlighten me... what damage did the ad (placed in an open space - not Mainstack's HQ) bring to the brand? Remember, I'm not a marketing genius, so I genuinely want to learn.

@heavenumunna @eheisenbeerg @Tega_Gabriel Very true Moments like this, one has to be objective and choose what will bring the best results Different strategies will yield different results The big question is, what’s will yield the best result for Mainstack? That should be what drives the decision

@eheisenbeerg @Tega_Gabriel attention than it could've garnered. The entire conversation on X has shifted from what happened in the conference (value) to what happened at the venue (drama). 2. Mainstack should've waited for their "moment" to bite back. One silly slip from selar and they'd laugh a meme...

@gkbalogs Very true Part of gaining edge in marketing is knowing when to react and when not too Sometimes response must not always come immediately too As long as what is being done is not illegal, brands must choose the option that will yield the best result

Unpopular opinion: Mainstack’s reaction gave Selar more visibility than the ad itself ever would have. The ad on its own probably wouldn’t have delivered a tenth of the impact and virality its getting. Now all everyone's talking about is the M vs S. You don’t have to react to everything that happens, although I agree it's easier said than done. I’ve had two brands try similar underhand tactics to undermine our products over the years. Both times my team was ready to go to war. Both times I chose to ignore it. One blew past without gaining any traction. The other ended up being fought by customers themselves. Sometimes the best response is restraint. All the energy that has been dissipated because people saw a competitor’s ad for one day just isn’t worth it in my opinion. At best, Selar was being cheeky and a bit corny. But Mainstack leaning into it amplified the moment and made it much bigger than it needed to be. What should be their moment is now about rivalry.

I don't think this should be the conclusion though. it's just a sample size in the whole data Everyone won't start a company There will be advantages and disavantages but still do your work well wherever you find yourself It will always end in a win situation for you

All those who carry company that isn’t theirs on their head like gala, hope you’re learning a thing or two. In all, it’s the people who build their name that are winning, always.

We're hiring a Social Media/Content Lead for kulawise.com. If your camera roll is 80% gym mirrors, 10% food pics, and 10% quotes about discipline 🥹. You live fitness, believe food is the first medicine, and know how to manage a brand (starting with your own), we should talk. Resume to hello@kulawise.com, an even creative application would get you on the team faster. We don’t do rules and norms, we’re mostly rebels.

Nothing shocks me more than how seemingly intellectual and highly placed individuals cherry-pick conversations or twist meanings and facts just to argue in support of a political candidate. If those at the top can act this way, I wonder what to expect from those at the bottom.

Bobs, I really, really liked Buhari. Called him "My General". I supported him long before anyone I knew. Voted for him from 2007 to 2015. Created his Facebook fan page in 2009 and grew it to 200K members. [interesting fact: during the post election 2011 riots when everyone was calling on Buhari to issue a statement condemning the riots, I issued one from the fan page and the press ran with it. I hope it helped douse the tension.] For the 2015 elections, I was on his bandwagon before the primaries. Even took a selfie with him Dec 2014 - not sure any one did before me. It was easy to believe him and the alternative wasn't a choice. On the day before the elections I was setting up a call center in Kaduna. And returned to Lagos that same day to vote for him in Lekki. I remember the inauguration, there was just so much hope. Tears may have welled up in my eyes as he took his oath of office. Then declared "I belong to everybody and I belong to nobody" There is a video I have from that day I may share today. A massive crowd of "urchins" broke through the barricade by Eagles Square but all they wanted was to wave. After the elections I met with him at Defence House Abuja. If I wanted a job in the administration, all I needed to do was hang around as I was part of TBO - The Buhari Organization led by Hameed Ali, his Chief of Staff. But I had a startup to run and I don't do "hangers on". I was confident the delay in appointing ministers was due to his waiting to implement The Oronsaye report. What a disappointment he turned out to be. He's the last politician that can ever disappoint me the way he did. By 2018, I don comot had for e matter. But man, the guy had absolute carriage, poise and charisma. At the same time, lacked any level of depth. Had so many blind spots. Placed loyalty first and no care for competence and had a retinue of who is who of corruption around him. Of course, the Shite massacres and October 20th Lekki Massacre will forever remain stains on him. As with every human, the story is complex. But here is a man that Nigeria gave everything to and he gave her his minimum in return. But did he have more to give? I doubt it. Anyway, he's dead now and I definitely feel no joy. I just feel sad that a story that could have ended in so much glory, is bleh. Ah well.. farewell, General Muhammadu Buhari.

The issue with learning from personal and other people's mistakes is that what most refer to as mistakes aren't mistakes. They are learning curves and feedback. You haven't done it before. There's no way you could have known how best to do it. Even if you did, circumstances may have changed.
