@SheriffJCooper Your budget was $700,000,000 last fiscal year.

The County is facing a $100 million deficit for the 2026/27 budget year. They have asked me to help solve the budget deficit by cutting over $35 million from my budget. That’s 35% of the shortfall. Those cuts are all public safety services that will have a huge impact on critical services the Sheriff’s Office provides to the unincorporated citizens of Sacramento County. These cuts will include disbanding the Homeless Outreach Team, Problem-Oriented Policing Team (which deals with quality of life crimes in our neighborhoods), and cutting critical detective units like child abuse, elderly abuse, homicide, and identity theft detectives, to name a few. This is exacerbated by the fact that we have fewer deputies now than we did twenty years ago. The Sheriff’s Office also has the lowest number of deputies assigned to answer 911 calls for service than any other police agency in the County. This has the potential to create a public safety crisis and dig even deeper into the resources I provide to keep you safe. I am unsure how this will play out, but I am committed to keeping the public informed as we work through this crisis in the next couple of months. @sacsheriff

@uncledoomer i met my wife during this era. we'll have been together 19 years on the 27th of this month. we don't have "a song." all of these songs have some beautiful memory attached to them. it truly was a special and optimistic time that can never be replicated.

its actually really hard to put into words how optimistic it felt when all this music was coming out in the 2000s

@tcag75 @nikutaberuru I understand what it is. I'm saying it's misleading as an answer to the OP's question. There are literally millions more households with gun owners in CA than WY.

@tcag75 @nikutaberuru This chart is misleading. CA is #3 for most gun owners in the country as well as #3 in annual sales. Only TX and FL beat them out. WY and MT have a high percent of ownership but low populations.

@nikutaberuru not every house highest in conservative areas lowest in leftists areas and as an interesting fact the areas with the toughest ownership laws tend to have the highest crime rates

I'm for California. Born and raised there for 38 years until I left a year ago. I love California but hate the government. They've defrauded tax payers for $180 billion+, taxes are highest in the country while public services continue to degrade, they're extremely soft on crime to the point where everything from toothpaste to baby formula is locked in cages at stores because the state refuses to give thieves anything more than a slap on the wrist. Illegal immigration is out of control and the school system emboldens teachers to undermind and lie to parents. And now they have gerrymandered the voting districts such that it will be impossible to vote out the criminals in office during my lifetime. California, my home, was stolen from me.

@RealCalebKitson If you have about 300 sq ft of healthy grass you can raise them with almost zero inputs 8-9 month per year. Over the winter is a different story though.

Absolutely not ai in any way. I've been following her for over 2 years and she's shown how everything is built. Every inch of the mine, every tool and lift. She got shut down by the city for a while and recently showed all of her plans and blueprints she used to prove everything has been built to code from the start. She's a brilliant engineer.

One more 🇯🇵 Japan 🤝 🇺🇲America post. This is the church I came up in, founded by a few Japanese families in 1916. We had a beautiful Japanese garden that my siblings, friends from church, and I loves to play hide-and-seek in after Sunday services. The Japanese are truly my brothers in Christ ✝️🙏

Since Japan is posting about the things they find cool about American culture, I'll share something I find cool about their's: listening bars. Apparently there are bars filled with records where people don't talk, they just sit listen to the vinyl records that the bartender spins while sipping cocktails. Sounds amazing!

I'll add to this and say that if an American invites you to go hunting or fishing with them, not only do they REALLY like you, they trust you more than just about anyone that they know.
