To be a better manager of your finances, I believe one of the fundamentals is to donate regularly. I try to donate on every 1st, 10th, and 20th, unless I make a larger donation that I deem to cover several months’ worth of donations. In finance terms, I “DCA” into donating, like how I DCA into my investments. Reasons why this works: 1. The act of giving trains your mind to reduce attachment - important when managing your finances, come what may. 2. The power, abundance, and gratitude you experience before, during, and after donating elevates and sharpens your mind if you want to direct it to be so. 3. The power you experience when donating will not lead to a victim mentality of any kind. 4. To donate regularly, you have to allocate your time and resources towards opportunities to donate so they generate value through helping others again and again. Training your mind this way will carry it towards how you manage your finances. 5. It is good to be able to help others using your finances, and having it as one of the reasons towards achieving financial success.

Recently I got into a (friendly) debate on the topic of holding physical gold vs. ETF. His argument was you didn’t have to pay capital gains on physical gold since it is untracked. Wouldn’t this be negated by the sales tax you pay on purchase and sale?

It’s been a busier week for me than usual: 1. Filed my personal taxes 2. Made my GST remittance to the CRA 3. Migrated my workflow from a MacBook to a more iPad-focused setup 4. Went to the dentist’s office 5. Got an eye exam 6. Getting ready for my trip to Australia next week!

@RX_9999_2 They thrive on secretly feeling superior over: 1. People who they deem inferior and call it “empathy” 2. People who don’t think like them as they’re convinced they’re correct Japanese people: 1. Do not take on the inferiority victim badge they assign 2. Do not think like them

Can you survive without credit cards? I use it for convenience as most online vendor only use credit card as payment. Dave Ramsey show always advise their callers to cut up their credit cards. 🤔 I guess vendor use debit cards?

@theEconBlog I remember seeing people on Reddit freaking out on another level, given their stance against you-know-who and the endless propos they’re exposed to in that platform.

I would argue it's because the media is driving fear and overreactions from an already polarized population. If it were a different person doing the exact same policies, the market wouldn't overreact. And I think this proves true, as every time the volatility is short lived and we keep eventually finding out that things play out not as bad as people were lead to believe.

One year since “liberation day” 🙄 tariffs crashed the markets. Stupid moves by politicians can and will affect our portfolios. But stick with your holdings long term and effective business leaders will overcome obstacles to keep our economies and investments growing.

@AllIn_ETFs $JEPI is more of a broad-market ETF, while $JEPQ is more tech-heavy. $JEPI is outperforming $JEPQ YTD, but it’s been the other way around for the past few years.
