He is also a strong personality when it comes to penalties, which could be important on Sunday. If Mikel Arteta chooses Raya over Kepa and it backfires, people will say, “Kepa brought us this far, so why wasn’t he allowed to keep his place?” On the other hand, if Kepa is chosen over Raya and it goes wrong, people will say, “Raya is the main goalkeeper, so why wasn’t he trusted in such a crucial moment?” The real concern is that if the decision backfires, Arsenal fans may heavily criticize Arteta, and that pressure could affect the team in the remaining competitions. No disputes Raya is by far the better keeper but dropping Kepa for the final would be bad management. Also sends a negative message to any future #2 that it’s irrelevant if you helped take us to the final, sit on that bench for the biggest game.
