Imagine @cosmoslabs_io not supporting the Osmosis merge and then seeing someone from @SolanaFndn say this. @osmosis created far more than $30M of value for the ecosystem. They built so many things. This should have been a straight yes. They’ve been “Cosmos labsed.”

Its hard to build without stable dependencies. Something we never talked about, was the huge progress we had in our product of bring private custody, and cross-chain swaps with Polaris, with (what I consider) the most secure MPC wallet thats been built. It worked. I'm incredibly proud of it. MPC custody owned by your existing wallet, that would require TEE's + MPC assumptions to break in order to risk any fund loss. 0 way to centrally steal funds. Your funds at rest are private on Namada, and Polaris could execute cross-chain swaps across Cosmos, Solana, Ethereum, and route you back. But we kept running into dependency failure after failure. Namada wouldn't upgrade to give permissionless assets for months. Bridges repeatedly kept shutting down, refused to do their previously committed growth plans, and kept renegotiating for increasingly extractive terms. The commercials and stability to build was gone. The prior stable players were gone. They got - kicked out behind closed doors - moved on due to disappointment in the ecosystem direction. - changed to bet on EVM, then got rugged - still bet on EVM, then got drained in a security bug When @aaronxkong says being on the cosmos hub gives more leverage, giving a clear stability in brand is a huge part of it. All these dependency risk problems get far better, as they used to be. Now "enterprise strategies" has a legible story for value accrual, this makes the hub a more believable counterparty. All competitors (with existing distribution) in enterprise accrue the value privately, or are actively transitioning to do so. (x.com/hal2001/status…) Cosmos must show how this can accrue to the token. But even more importantly to me, this merge enables stable Cosmos DeFi. DEX + permissionless cosmwasm atomically. Its more exciting to build here, and you can do so with stable dependencies. Osmosis itself is stable, but an ecosystem needs to collectively grow together. Cosmos DeFi, always betting on maximal decentralization and cypherpunk values, will be far easier for everyone.

Lets go! This will set Osmosis community, brand + tech up to benefit from further usage and growth of all Cosmos. This easies integration BD wise as well, focusing all the effort of Cosmos onto one-chain. This has been a huge painpoint for all RWA-related issues, and bridges. Despite app-chain bridges in principle fully solving this, the off-chain side shows massive economies of improvement with concentration on a single chain. Cosmos accrues value from its utility, with Osmosis' strong brand throughout crypto. Always prioritizing user safety, UX, MEV protection and most long-standing on-chain crypto players have used us.

People underestimate how much easier Cosmos DeFi will be *if* this prop does pass. Dex + permissionless CosmWasm + atomic transactions. If I were a Cosmos builder, I'd start working on lending protocols, LSTs, etc to relaunch on the Hub.

Being able to tag @Osmosis without @osmosis is so weirdly satisfying… Maybe because it took us 3 years to get this handle...

Burn only started from taker fees this year and has been increasing with efficiency improvements. We aim to further increase the rate of burn through volume increases. Additionally, the economic impact is on the circulating supply rather than the maximum supply, so it should have a higher impact.

The burn mechanism for @osmosis is now fully automated following completion of the final manual burn from taker fees, which was a record high of 1.04m OSMO. 30-day burn rate is approx 79,000/day, while the current emissions rate is 9,741/day. If you’ve interacted with Mars on Osmosis before this upgrade, your wallet connection may still store the old fee settings, causing “insufficient fee” errors when trying to transact.
