本日、パキスタンのシャリフ首相と電話会談を行いました。 私から、イスラマバードで実施された米・イラン間の協議について、シャリフ首相を始めとするパキスタン関係者の仲介努力に敬意を表し、これを支持する旨述べました。 また、最も重要なことは、今後、ホルムズ海峡の航行の安全確保を含む事態の沈静化が実際に図られることであり、協議を通じて、最終的な合意に早期に至ることが重要との我が国の立場を伝えました。 さらに、日本としても、これまで米国及びイラン双方と首脳間の意思疎通を行なってきており、事態の早期沈静化に向け外交努力を重ねてきていることを説明しました。 その上で、世界の物流の要衝、そして国際公共財であるホルムズ海峡の安定回復が急務であり、日本やアジア諸国を含むすべての国の船舶につき、自由で安全な航行が一日も早く確保されることが不可欠である旨強調しました。 シャリフ首相からは、イスラマバードで行われた米・イラン協議やパキスタンの外交的取組について説明があるとともに、事態の早期沈静化及びホルムズ海峡の航行の安全に向け、引き続き日本と協力していきたい旨の発言がありました。 これまでも、政府としては、国際社会と緊密に連携しながら外交的取組を進めてきています。 引き続き、私も含め、主体的に取組を進めていく考えです。
