WOW. The White House deleted a video of an hour-long Easter event from yesterday where Trump said we can’t fund day care because of wars, said he defends his friends “even if they’re bad people,” and had an adviser compare him to Jesus, among other bonkers moments You know what to do…

Trump’s spiritual adviser Paula White compares him to Jesus: “You were betrayed and arrested and falsely accused. It's a familiar pattern that our Lord and Savior showed us…Because of his resurrection, you rose up.”

If you're feeling stressed, read the transcripts of Hitler's post-1943 military conferences. At least you aren't an adjundant to Hitler in 1945, trying to distract him from his hoe-scaring ideas, like restoring Germany's pre-WWI battleships:

So I work at a men’s divorce law firm, and I see this all the time. Guys get such a bad rap when they end up divorced, especially middle-aged with kids. People love to mock their appearance on dating apps or joke about “divorced dads” like it’s funny, but it’s honestly pretty cruel. These men have usually just gone through brutal battles.. in court, with their ex, financially drained, emotionally exhausted. Many have lost a ton of money, time with their kids, and their sense of stability. Now they’re trying to pick themselves back up, put themselves out there, and find someone who actually values them as a person.. something their ex maybe never did. It’s not desperate. It’s resilient. Starting over after divorce isn’t easy, especially when society acts like you’re damaged goods or a punchline just because you’re a middle-aged dad trying to date again. Cut them some slack. A little kindness and respect goes a long way when someone’s rebuilding their life. Respect to all the divorced dads out there grinding through it. You’re not alone ♥️

There are rare moments of just total honesty from Trump. He has said this many times before. It's the ultimate proof of what a narcissist he is but also how amoral: he "couldn't care less" if you're a bad person as long as you are "nice" to him. This is the evangelicals' hero.

Having worked with Asian countries as well, this is what I’d say from an American perspective: Japan: excellent to work with, if you can even get them to work with you; expensive, but quality Taiwan: excellent to work with, when you eventually get them to work with you, but timing is a bit tough; not too expensive, and quality if they make it Korea: difficult to contact, harder to work with if not off the shelf and extremely script oriented with little room for experimentation; excellent price for quality China: will be good on the surface and screw you if you’re not paying attention unless you pay a bit above average and filter for that, but extremely willing to work with you; insanely cheap to the point it seems fake, poor to decent quality unless in specialized items which is decent to good quality, but rarely excellent India/Pakistan: bro what the hell man, you told me a minute ago in the conversation you’ll do this and now you’re gaslighting me *on a recording* that you never said that; bad pricing, bad quality, lol? i never once successfully had anything done with either key note: east asian countries are high context cultures, so a lot is relationship or implication driven contracts aren’t exactly ignored, but going off contract is somewhat expected to a degree in specific situations china is used to being called out and will make it work (and a quality loss), but say in japan if an indigo supplier can’t make the exact quantity by a small margin (they refuse to compromise on quality), being polite about it goes a longer way and they often make it up in other ways that are beneficial long term building trust works for east asia, but i have no idea how south asia works here cause contracts, calling them out, and not paying them doesn’t seem to work at all

@CaribouCoon Well I mean US TV animation was just pretty damn dead until the Simpsons lugged the whole industry on its back. You can't really make that comparison when there isn't anything to compare to.

@out_sall Reeling it back to earlier, clearly US animation didn't embrace--by which I mean applied to more than just a couple shows--using storyboarding palette work, and editing etc. in order to make limited animation look as good as TV anime managed to.

@CaribouCoon You gotta admire that level of drive. I'm friends with a friend of the grandson of the founder of the Shanghai Animation Film Studio and I desperately want to claw my way into those archives, but apparently that guy is a douche who spends his family's fortune funding Vtubers.

@CaribouCoon Yeah yeah I've read Matteo's shit. I've talked to him personally a lot too, there was a while we were in frequent communication. It's a good writeup, and he's a talented writer, though I think sometimes his opinions are a tad inflexible and he tends to treat sources as gospel.

@out_sall I didn't say it was unfair, I said it was an exception. Animation on US television didn't grow to be more like Johnny Quest, it grew to be more like Flintstones, even the ones that were more adventure oriented. TV anime grew to be more like Astro Boy, ofc improving a lot on it.

@CaribouCoon I mean with Joe we're getting to the 70s and that's already a decade into the development of modern anime. At that point you have to put Tiger Mask against Don Bluth and I don't think that's fair. Atom and Johnny Quest were only released like a year apart.

@out_sall I pointed to Astro Boy and Kimba for those adaptations. I could've just as well said Joe or Sabu to Ichi which also prove my point but the former two were earlier and set the ground work moreso than the latter two which perfected it.

@CaribouCoon Johnny Quest was like, THE first animated adventure show on TV, IIRC. It's not an unfair comparison at all. Are you seriously going to compare Atom in its heyday to the Flintstones?

@out_sall Where did Dezaki get his start? Highly recommend this series of articles about Mushi Pro. I agree Astro Boy isn't much of a looker, Johnny Quest is a great counter example tho mostly an exception animetudes.com/2023/04/07/mus…
