@CelestinEiffel Hi! Not really a question on us, but anyway, we see 2 main reasons:
(a) Tradition: Some fields have used a format for a very long time, it's hard to change.
(b) Specific needs: Some fields need inline citations, some just numbers or shorthands, some cite 100s of articles etc.
