@TOSSatNight Saw them in NYC in the 80s. Randy, Mark and Cass. The setlist was abbreviated, but good. Got to slap Cass on the back. My big brother went to see them in the 70s and they canceled. However Blue Öyster Cult played and that’s how he(we) discovered them.

@oversolly My memory of the Spirit concert isn't a good one, unfortunately. They were opening for Aerosmith, which was a horrible mismatch. Fans were booing Spirit, and Aerosmith was at the height of the drug years, and were horrible. The songs were unrecognizable. My worst concert ever.

@TOSSatNight Yeah it’s crazy. I’ve loved Spirit (and Trek) since I was a kid, but only found this all out recently.

@oversolly Wow, I didn't know that! He played in many groups! Early Canned Heat, Spirit, Firefall and Heart, among many others. I saw Spirit in the 70s, but looks like he was gone by then. Thanks for the great trivia! #TOSSatNight

Pixies playing “Trompe Le Monde” on Letterman in Feb 1992. This was their US network TV debut. What an amazing, weird song to play, and with the full Letterman band. I count 4 guitars, and Paul and Sid’s solos are bonkers.
