@johnlbirch @MrBoothY6 COVID was a perfect chance to abolish them and trust teachers to assess pupils accurately. Nobody would miss SATS.

@MrBoothY6 I find it incredible that KS2 SATs still exist. The cost must be huge and the educational benefit is zero (indeed negative given how the Y6 curriculum is distorted). All to produce primary school league tables of dubious accuracy.

Now the SATs papers are published, I can talk about how whoever made one of the arithmetic questions 67 divided by 1 is both very funny and also no friend of mine.

While we were locked out of X for two weeks by the hackers, Zak Crawley was finally dropped by England and Sir David Attenborough made a century. Pakistan struggled in Bangladesh and the Icelandic domestic season got underway. Did anything else happen of note?

@ErikaMorris79 Always struck me as a selfish player, out for his average as much as anything. 2019 semi-final when India needed a leader to step up he dropped himself down the order.

OK, I’ve asked this before, but I need to know if it’s changed. What’s your favourite flavour of crisps? Mine is cheese and onion, anything else is the wrong answer 😜😂

There’s nothing wrong with admiring a player. But when it becomes obsessive to the point that it clouds your judgement and compromises your objectivity, then sorry — you’re just a PR rep or a glorified fanboy. Far too many so‑called media folk these days exposing their biases.

@ovverbruv I do this one about once a year. It's near Matlock, Derbyshire. Believe it or not it's just as steep on the way up.

First time this year tackling this bad boy. #cycling I know some of you youngsters would cruise up there but I had to get out of the saddle where it gets to 14% at the top.

@WG_RumblePants It's a good point but a wide long-hop isn't the best ball to use as an example...

Ask yourself this: is James Anderson still a better red ball bowler in English conditions than: Atkinson Archer Carse Tongue Cook Potts You’re going to struggle to convince me that any of them are better than him. And if none of them are better than him, well, shouldn’t he perhaps… 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
Silme@silme47

At 43, James Anderson is out here humiliating batters on dead flat pitches, 27 wickets with stunning 2.8 economy, and an unreal average of just 14, standing as the 2nd highest wicket-taker in the County Championship.

@Helen_Fields Hostage Tower by Alistair McClean. My parents had shelves full of books and we were encouraged to choose whatever we liked. I read this a few times and it was always entertaining. Honorable mention to Chocky

Need your help, BookTwitter. I'm running a National Year of Reading event for to 14-18 yr olds. Name one book that at around that age lit up your imagination. Audiobooks, graphic novels, short stories - all welcome. Stories that will set them on fire and make them want to read. I'm looking for books to rave about for the simple joy of reading, so not really the classics that they might be asked to read as past of the syllabus. Go...

@but_cyclists That's terrifying. Motornormativity at its scariest. No thought for the life lost and the others affected by this dangerous driving.

A reminder that if you ride a bicycle, your life is worth nothing. Even if you are doing everything right, a motorist can kill you and face no repercussions as long as they have a family and work hard, and there's absolutely nothing you can do about it.
