@agnesjuliet What I have done is invite people who have served as peer reviewers for us, supported the journal with professionalism & enthusiasm above & beyond, as a way of saying thank you. I hope it makes them feel valued for the work they do, without which we’d be lost.

This might be a stupid question....but, how do people become part of journals' editorial boards? Are there application processes, do you apply? Occasionally I see the odd journal recruiting reviews editors etc, but is there anything more systematic?
