Braitenberg’s law of Downhill Invention, Uphill Analysis: it’s easier to write a complex system from scratch, building up your mental model as you go, than to come to an existing complex system and build a mental model of it.
Brendan Dolan-Gavitt@moyix

I often see people say things like "it's harder to figure out if someone's code is correct than it is to just rewrite it correctly yourself". Is this actually true? It certainly conflicts with my intuition based on P vs NP

Enough people have told me they didn't know about the pacman rule that I must retweet @dylanbeattie and cc @ericholscher to promote it. It's an excellent idea and worked beautifully at Pizza Solves Everything. People were very noticably making the effort to leave space.

Thought-provoking 🧵where Wisan explains how he finds TDD overcomes common biological limits giving him a workflow that doesn't strain his working memory while providing a sequence of goals for a steady sense of progress
Wisen Tanasa@ceilfors

Many of the software engineers I talked to told me that they practice TDD out of guilt. That's not right, we need a different way to think about TDD. I've been practising TDD for almost a decade, here's how I currently think about it:

Edin Kapić / Един Капић 🦋 @edinkapic.com
In 1999, a little book by @KentBeck started explaining Extreme Programming (XP) to the masses. 23 years later, it's still true to every word. But we, the developers, chose to ignore half of its learnings. In this thread 🧵I'll fix that for you. 👇👇👇
