Today we begin bargaining for our third contract with @LeeEntNews, corporate owner of @OWHnews. We are entering these negotiations with hope. But rest assured, we will continue the fight to #ProtectLocalNews. We live here, our families are here and we all need #LocalJournalism.

The Lee Enterprises annual shareholder meeting lasted 9 minutes and @BuffaloGuild was the only shareholder to submit a question to executives. We asked, specifically, what investments Lee is making to improve its digital platforms? CEO Kevin Mowbray responded in generalities...

We and @UMediaGuild represent workers at Lee Enterprises' largest news operations and are Lee shareholders. Today, on the day of Lee's annual shareholder meeting, we call on Lee to start investing in local news and in its digital operations. The company's future depends on it.

Chicago Tribune journalists are going on strike for 24 hours tomorrow for the first time in history. @CTGuild has bargained for a fair contract since 2018. Alden responded by offering functional pay cuts & fewer benefits despite the Trib's profits. We're done playing games.

This represents more than 20% of the newsroom. If you care about journalism -- local news, national news, international news -- every warning light should be blinking red.

@joan8904 @LeeEntNews @OWHnews @LeeEntNews still hasn’t provided us an official justification for their reasoning behind moving to west Omaha. But given how Lee tends to operate, this is a financial decision.

@joan8904 @LeeEntNews has decided to move the @OWHnews newsroom from downtown Omaha to about 10 miles away in west Omaha. The new space won’t be ready for at least a month, so we’ll be working from temporary locations until then.

Workers @washingtonpost have been in contract negotiations with our bosses for 18 months. But the company is refusing to pay us what we’re worth or bargain in good faith. So on Dec. 7, we’re walking off the job for 24 hours.
