Egbon, that ₦16.9bn covered four modern bus terminals (Iwo Road, Challenge, Ojoo & New Ife Road), not one. Iwo Road Central Terminals 1 & 2 were only commissioned in November 2025 after COVID-era delays. They replaced the old chaotic, unregulated motor parks that used to define that axis. Now, What the video shows is rainy season waterlogging on high-traffic access roads and entrances, a common challenge at any major Nigerian transport hub handling thousands of vehicles and passengers daily. And also, someone already posted this and the state feedback channels have already acknowledged the drainage and maintenance complaints and forwarded them for action. What I would say is, Building modern infrastructure is one thing, sustaining it under intense usage and seasonal rains is continuous work. That doesn’t erase the fact that Seyi Makinde delivered a long overdue upgrade that previous administrations never completed.

In May 2020, Governor Seyi Makinde awarded approximately 16.9bn for the construction of modern Bus terminals in Oyo State. The Iwo Road Bus Terminals was commissioned in November, 2025. Less than a year after commission, here is the state of one of the terminals.

The Bashorun Ultra-Modern Shopping Complex is nearing completion, with painting work currently in progress. However, a major concern remains: will the petty traders who previously occupied the area be able to afford the new shops? If they cannot, will the local government allow them to continue displaying their wares in front of the complex? If that happens, wouldn't it defeat the purpose of building a modern shopping complex designed to promote orderliness, cleanliness, and a more organized business environment?

That road is in a very bad condition, especially during the rainy season. Interestingly, the Commissioner for Works and some other government officials live around that area. Still, I won’t place the blame on them alone. Many of these projects depend on the Governor’s approval before any major intervention can begin. This is also one of the reasons genuine local government autonomy is important. If local councils had the power and resources to address issues like this, many roads wouldn’t have to wait for state approval before getting the attention they deserve.

The Oyo State Executive Council (ExCo) met on Wednesday, 15 July 2026, and made the following resolutions and approvals: The implementation of a strategic intervention loan for an indigenous cassava factory at Ado-Awaye. The local factory, which produces cassava flour and other derivatives, will benefit over 25,000 farmers, provide employment, and strengthen Oyo State's position as a leading cassava-producing state. The total cost of the government's intervention is an interest-free loan of ₦3 billion (Three billion naira). The sum of ₦2,461,975,000 (Two billion, four hundred and sixty-one million, nine hundred and seventy-five thousand naira) as an additional government equity investment towards the commissioning and commencement of commercial operations of Oyo Sugar and Derivatives Industries Limited. The State government had previously approved and released the sum of ₦850,000,000 (Eight Hundred and Fifty Million Naira) as an equity investment towards the revitalisation and completion of the sugar processing factory located in Iseyin. The construction of the 4-kilometre Idi-Igba/Akinmorin Road in Ilora at ₦2,900,715,000 (Two billion, nine hundred million, seven hundred and fifteen thousand naira). The Council based its approval on the socio-economic rejuvenation expected to result from the construction of the road. An additional ₦26,768,370,000 (Twenty-six billion, seven hundred and sixty-eight million, three hundred and seventy thousand naira) for the upgrade of the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport. The approval covers additional works and the revised Bill of Engineering Measurement and Evaluation (BEME), including the construction of the 140-metre strip, runway safety area, blast pad, extra pipe covers, and other ancillary works. The Healthcare Initiative Project, to be financed through a €55 million (Fifty-five million Euros) French loan backed by the Federal Government. The loan will fund the modular construction and equipping of hospitals, including a Cardiac Centre, Emergency and Maternity Centres, Operating Theatres, and Intensive Care Units (ICUs). It will also provide 39 ambulances, 10 dental centres, 200 Primary Healthcare Centres, as well as emergency and maternity facilities at hospitals in Igboora, Ogbomoso, Oyo, Moniya, Kishi, Iseyin, Okeho, and Eruwa. An initial take-off grant of ₦200,000,000 (Two hundred million naira) to support Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) in its pursuit of continental honours, which had been evasive for 27 years.

PETER OBI MUST APOLOGISE TO AIRPORT STAFF AND PAY THE FINE FOR WRONG PARKING As the Minister of Aviation, I felt a moral duty to investigate and authenticate the claim made by opposition candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, a few days ago that the tyres of his car were ‘unjustly’ clamped at the airport, suggesting a ‘persecution agenda’ against him by the Federal Government. Politics aside, every Nigerian is entitled to fair treatment under the law. I therefore instituted an internal inquiry over the issue. Luckily enough, the entire Abuja airport is covered by CCTV cameras, real-time, 24/7. But apparently, this fact was unknown to Mr. Peter Obi. Otherwise, perhaps he would have been more circumspect before rushing to the media to cry ‘persecution’. From the recordings, these are the facts: 1. On Saturday, July 4th, 2026, Mr. Obi arrived at the domestic wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja at exactly 20:28 pm, driven by a Policeman. He alighted with two other occupants and went into the terminal building. 2. The Police driver then parked the vehicle, almost blocking the entrance and came out himself and went into the terminal building too. The airport rule is that, apart from the fact that it is a drop-off zone, a driver must remain behind the wheels of the vehicle for it to be tolerated for some time within that zone. Still the vehicle tyres were not clamped. 3. The Policeman came back to the vehicle at about 20:32pm and collected something from the vehicle and went back into the building again, leaving the vehicle unattended to. 4. At this point, the dutiful airport security staff came over and clamped the tyres of the car. In doing this, contrary to the claims by Peter Obi, nobody was inside the car and so nobody knew whether it was his car (not that it should matter, anyway). 5. When the Policeman returned again and discovered the tyres were clamped, he was directed to an office and upon getting there, he called Mr. Peter Obi on his phone and gave the phone to the manager. Mr. Peter Obi then introduced himself and spoke with the manager, peddled his ‘influence’ and requested for the release of the vehicle. His vehicle was then released without him paying the necessary fine. 6. It is important to note that the time the vehicle was parked unattended to in that prohibited zone was about 30 minutes, which constitutes a security risk at an airport by global best practices. What has emerged from this is a clear case of an opposition candidate trying to whip up unnecessary sentiments for a wrong he committed with his driver. The excuse which Mr. Peter Obi gave that there were other offenders too on that day (which is completely false) cannot be an excuse for an individual aspiring to be President of Nigeria. He must live above board. This is a matter that was not even mentioned at all by the airport authorities and had been put to rest. But ever determined to milk any situation to score cheap political points, Mr. Peter Obi decided to go on air to render a false narrative. Therefore, he must also face the consequences of his actions. (I have attached the CCTV footages to this statement for the public to clearly see what transpired.) In the circumstances, consistent with the principle of equality before the law, as Minister of Aviation, I make the following demands on Mr. Peter Obi: 1. That he tenders an unreserved, public apology to those hardworking, ordinary Nigerian workers at the airport, just doing their jobs dutifully and whom he sought to blackmail as his ‘persecutors’. 2. That Mr. Peter Obi voluntarily goes back to the airport and pay the appropriate fine of N25,000 for wrongful parking at the airport for which he used ‘influence peddling’ to bully his way out on that day. He cannot be bigger than the law. If these demands are not met within one week, I will be giving the necessary directives to the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to take the next steps against him.

Updated: in the course of the rescue operation, eight of the kidnappers were arrested and are now in DSS custody, while some of them were neutralised. There was no quid pro quo in the rescue as one of the terrorists, a kingpin, that the kidnappers demanded his release, is being prosecuted for his atrocities. The security agencies will give full account soon.
