Whenever I am at Eid ground, I always think about those who were there the year before and couldn't make it and also those who are there now and would not make the next one.
Morbid, right?!
That's how I am! My mortality makes me focus on never leaving for tomorrow what i can do today!
I am only sure of this very second and every second I have the opportunity to be in, I will devote it to having a better Nigeria, and I pray one day it becomes my sadaqatul jariya.
Giving up on Nigeria can never be an option!!!!

Politics of Zero Humanity
It is profoundly disturbing that while we, the politicians, continue to obsess over the 2027 elections—spending our energy scheming about how to capture, grab, and run the next election—the first two months of 2026 have reportedly seen the killing of over 1,000 Nigerians and the abduction of several thousand others.
This is the painful reality confronting our nation. From Zamfara State to Kwara, Ondo, Kebbi, Edo, Benue, Adamawa, Plateau, and many other states, families have buried loved ones, and communities have been emptied by gunshots and fear.
In over 25 states across all geopolitical zones this year alone, there have been major violent attacks on innocent citizens, kidnappings by armed bandits, mass shootings, village invasions, and brazen assaults on worshippers and travellers. The scale of bloodshed and the number of deaths in just two months in Nigeria are even worse than what we see in countries officially at war. Yet the urgency with which we discuss these tragedies does not match the urgency of our discussions surrounding zoning formulas, party structures, and campaign strategies.
This is the tragedy of our politics.
We debate power sharing while citizens are sharing funeral programs. I watched in tears yesterday as families in the Doruwa Babuje community in Plateau State buried their dead after attacks by armed terrorists, but our media and leaders were focused on discussions about party issues and the 2027 elections, when we aren't even sure we will be alive to see it, given all the deaths happening in our country today. We strategise about 2027 while Nigerians struggle to survive 2026. This is inhumane.
We must elevate human life to a sacred status in our national priorities. Leadership is not about winning elections; it is about saving lives. We can, and we must, aspire to a Nigeria devoid of bloodshed—a Nigeria where governance is measured not by political dominance but by the safety and dignity of its people.
History will not remember how many strategies we perfected for 2027; it will remember whether we acted when Nigerians were dying. We must choose Nigerian lives over politics. We must put Nigerians first.
A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO

Thank You, Nigerians
I am profoundly grateful to Nigerians from around the world for your prayers, calls, and solidarity following the incident at the ADC office in Benin yesterday. I especially appreciate your support during this difficult time for the family of the distinguished elder and former Governor of Edo State, Chief John Oyegun, who has served Nigeria honourably in various capacities, as well as for another former Governor, Professor Oserheimen Osunbor. Your support has strengthened my faith in our shared humanity and our collective hope for a better Nigeria. My deep gratitude is reflected in my renewed commitment to serve and build our nation.
Experiences of lawlessness are not new to me. Years ago, the violence and insecurity in Anambra shaped my determination to seek the governorship of the state, convinced that leadership must restore order, security, and public trust. Today, the growing lawlessness across our country calls upon all men and women of goodwill to step forward—not in fear but with a sense of responsibility. As Plato reminded us, the price good people pay for refusing to participate in government is to live under the rule of bad people.
This moment urges Nigerians to be even more resolute in electing leaders defined by competence, commitment, character, and compassion—leaders who prioritise the nation above self and service above power.
Together, with courage and unity, we can build the peaceful, secure, and prosperous Nigeria our people deserve.
A new Nigeria is POssible. -PO

@PeterObi dangerous state in Nigeria 🇳🇬. Your emergence ushered in light /development and darkness fizzled away!! Your emergence as the president ll bring the same fate to our brutally wounded nation. Nigeria is bleeding, leadership is at its lowest ebb. Yesterday unand your team were

@PeterObi That's who you are!!! A leader!!! They expect you to go the same line of violence. You are a man if peace. If there is anything that endeared you to me, it was the way you handled violence in Anambra state. I was there!!! Without firing a shot peace returned to a once most

@shehu_mahdi Elections have consequences!! For God to listen to us, we have to begin by asking Him for forgiveness!! In 2023, we had a golden chance of a life time to avert scenes like this but bigotry kept us down!! That low hanging fruit is still up for grabs!!!

At a time when Billions are spent by Governors on private plane charter at public expense for unproductive trips
At a time when hundreds of Billions of Naira are squandered for the extra comfort of National assembly members
At a time when NNPCL are yet to explain the whereabout of N600 Trillion from 2017 to 2023
At a time when public office holders and politicians travel abroad for medical treatment Etc Etc
That is when Nigerian children and neo- nats are admitted on plastic chairs while on admission at Government hospitals since incubators are not available.
One Toyota pardon Jeep (N230M) can buy 20 sets of brand-new double compartment incubators with phototherapy light.
There are over 10,000 Prado jeeps( 10,000 × 230,000,000) amounting to nearly N2.3 Trillion currently being driven by politicians/ their families/ party executives and traditional rulers at all levels of government at public expense.
This is not democracy. This is governance infliction never visited on any people on earth. God, oh God ! we beg you to forgive us and deliver us.

@PeterObi peddling lies that everything is rossy. Leadership is not a tea-party affair. Those who brazenly usurped positions of authority in Nigeria cannot give what they don't have. Unfortunately we have a nation where the citizens are so broken to even see beyond their noses

Borrowing Without Growth: Nigeria’s Debt Dilemma
Recent World Bank reports indicate that Nigeria is now its number 3 debtor, with obligations estimated at roughly $18.7 billion. Bangladesh is the number one with $23 billion.
I continue to emphasise that there's nothing inherently wrong with borrowing. Nations borrow to improve productivity and stimulate growth. Debt becomes a problem only when it finances consumption, inefficiency, or corruption rather than investment as is our own case.
To understand the difference, it is useful to compare outcomes. Around 2015, Bangladesh’s nominal GDP stood at roughly $195 billion, with per-capita income slightly above $1,235. By 2024–2025, its economy had expanded to roughly $460–500 billion, and per-capita income had risen to about $2,700. In a decade, Bangladesh more than doubled the size of its economy, lifted incomes, and strengthened its export base - evidence that borrowed resources were largely channelled into productive sectors such as manufacturing, textiles, energy, and human capital.
Nigeria’s trajectory over the same period tells a different story. In 2015, Nigeria’s GDP was about $490 billion, with per-capita income around $2,600–2,700. Today, due to weak productivity growth, currency instability, structural inefficiencies, and monumental corruption, Nigeria’s GDP is below about $250 billion, with a per-capita income of $850-1000. Instead of expanding as is the case with Bangladesh, the economy has effectively contracted.
The contrast is instructive. One country borrowed and expanded production, exports, and incomes. The other borrowed but saw declining economic strength and living standards. This suggests that the real issue is not the size of borrowing, but the use of borrowed funds. Debt tied to infrastructure, industry, and human development fuels growth. Debt tied to consumption, leakages, and corruption deepens stagnation.
A new Nigeria where loans, if taken, will translate into productivity instead of consumption is very much POssible. -PO

@PeterObi Yeah we borrow to buy yacht ⛵, jets and fleet of trendy cars 🚘!!! Then our sycophants would line up singing praises while the citizens languish in abject unfathomable poverty. Nigeria 🇳🇬 has derailed!! The economist of propaganda with their jaguda policies would be on the news

I undertook an emergency trip this night to Lagos following the fire incident at Terminal 1 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA). I arrived the airport at about 12 midnight and joined the Managing Director and management team of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), who were still actively coordinating response efforts to ensure the fire was fully contained.
I commended FAAN personnel and first responders for their swift activation of established emergency procedures, noting that their prompt and coordinated actions were instrumental in safeguarding lives and limiting the impact of the incident.
I directed the fire department of FAAN and the Lagos State Fire Service to maintain an overnight vigil at the airport to ensure that the fire is properly put out.
At dawn, I will be undertaking a tour of the airport to assess the extent of damage caused by the fire and to give necessary directives.

@General_Somto Yeah this is part of the reason why Nigeria is presently said to be " a now disgraced country " There re many of such sycophants spread across the country. Nigeria is currently a nation of VICTIMS!!!

@PeterObi The people of Nigeria are not asking for too much. We just need the right minds. We need square pegs in round holes. We need people with capacity to make the right policies and unleash the young people who are wasting. I repeat, there is no country on this planet like NIGERIA 🇳🇬

Unlocking Nigeria’s Agricultural Potential: Lessons from Mai Shayi Farms
I have continued to reiterate that Nigeria can conquer food insecurity and even go further to earn as much—if not more—from agriculture than from oil. Our country has all that can make that happen, the land, the climate, and the human capacity to feed itself and become a major agricultural exporter. What has been lacking is not potential, but properly formulated policies and disciplined implementation.
After visiting the Songhai Farms in Cotonou and seeing firsthand what deliberate planning and integrated farming can achieve, I supported the adaptation of that model at Masdevan Farm in Urum. Today, the farm is doing remarkably well, not only producing food but also training young farmers and demonstrating how agriculture can become a viable engine of growth. With the right investment and policy consistency, agriculture can stimulate industries, create jobs, and transform our economy. Nigeria must act with urgency.
The Mai Shayi Coffee Farm on the Jos Plateau stands as another powerful reminder of what is possible. Built on a 30-hectare Arabica plantation with integrated processing facilities, it shows how agriculture can move beyond subsistence into value-chain production—creating employment, generating export earnings, reducing poverty, and driving rural development. With the right enabling environment, such models can be replicated across the country. I sincerely commend and thank the initiators of the Mai Shayi project for demonstrating what focused agricultural investment can achieve.
A new Nigeria is possible with the right policies—and the will to implement them. -PO

This is the unedited part of the interview I granted a blog in 2017 (nine years ago) emphasising that APC may not be a Party of saints (which, I repeat, is a matter of fact), BUT it is still far better than where we were coming from. Some characters edited the last part of my statement out of it.
And today, I repeat it again, I will be a fool to say APC is a Party of saints. And anyone who declares any Party to which he/she belongs as a Party of saints will also be a fool. But, on the balance, the APC still holds the best hope for the country and we cannot return to the era of PDP where you had some of the characters who are running for President today. It was only Mr. President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu @officialABAT that never hopped onto that battered train of PDP at that time.

It is amusing to see how some journalists and core opposition characters, posing as ‘activists’, continually express their own deep-seated biases as the wishes of ‘the Nigerian people’. How and where did they aggregate the views of ‘the Nigerian people’?
Perhaps, by ‘the Nigerian people’, they are referring to those usual suspects who gather at the entrance of the National Assembly and pose for cameras; or the 15 Senators who voted against the majority of 94 Senators; or the less that 25 Rep members who walked out on the majority of over 300 Rep members; or those vocal few who hop from one TV station to the next everyday; or those who gather under the comment section on social media and vent their spleen - just how did they aggregate the views of ‘the Nigerian people’?
Nigerians should be alert as we enter an election season. Some journalists and almost every so-called ‘neutral’ commentator or activist you see or hear in the media are all working for one interest or the other; they just don’t have the guts to come out with their full chest to openly support the political party or candidate for which or whom they are working.
